Satellite DNA as a target for TaqMan real-time PCR detection of the pinewood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The pinewood nematode (PWN), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus , is a major pathogen of conifers, which impacts on forest health, natural ecosystem stability and international trade. As a consequence, it has been listed as a quarantine organism in Europe.

Neq2X7: a multi-purpose and open-source fusion DNA polymerase for advanced DNA engineering and diagnostics PCR

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology
Thermostable DNA polymerases, such as Taq isolated from the thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus, enable one-pot exponential DNA amplification known as polymerase chain reaction (PCR). However, properties other than thermostability - such as fidelity,

Efficient Interaction between Two GTPases Allows the Chloroplast SRP Pathway to Bypass the Requirement for an SRP RNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cotranslational protein targeting to membranes is regulated by two GTPases in the signal recognition particle (SRP) and the SRP receptor; association between the two GTPases is slow and is accelerated 400-fold by the SRP RNA.

Efficient DNA isolation from moroccan arar tree [Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Masters] leaves and optimization of the rapd-pcr molecular technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Efficient DNA isolation from Moroccan Arar tree [Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Masters] leaves and optimization of the RAPD-PCR molecular technique. Molecular genetic analysis of Arar tree [Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Masters] is often limited by the

Identification of Five Putative Yeast RNA Helicase Genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The RNA helicase gene family encodes a group of eight homologous proteins that share regions of sequence similarity. This group of evolutionarily conserved proteins presumably all utilize ATP (or some other nucleoside triphosphate) as an energy source ...

Pseudomurein endoisopeptidases PeiW and PeiP, two moderately related members of a novel family of proteases produced in Methanothermobacter strains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Sequence comparison of pseudomurein endoisopeptidases PeiW encoded by the defective prophage ΨM100 of Methanothermobacter wolfeii, and PeiP encoded by phage ΨM2 of Methanothermobacter marburgensis, revealed that the two enzymes share only limited ...

Thermophilic Enzymes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008

Purification and characterization of a repressible alkaline phosphatase from Thermus aquaticus.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1976
A repressible alkaline phosphatase has been isolated from the extreme bacterial thermophile, Thermus aquaticus. The enzyme can be derepressed more than 1,000-fold by starving the cells for phosphate. In derepressed cells, nearly 6% of the total protein in a cell-free enzyme preparation is alkaline phosphatase.

Structural polymorphism of the RecA protein from the thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1995
The Escherichia coli RecA protein has served as a model for understanding protein-catalyzed homologous recombination, both in vitro and in vivo. Although RecA proteins have now been sequenced from over 60 different bacteria, almost all of our structural knowledge about RecA has come from studies of the E. coli protein.
