Identification and Characterization of a Thermostable MutS Homolog from Thermus aquaticus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1996
Recognition of mispaired or unpaired bases during DNA mismatch repair is carried out by the MutS protein family. Here, we describe the isolation and characterization of a thermostable MutS homolog from Thermus aquaticus YT-1. Sequencing of the mutS gene predicts an 89.3-kDa polypeptide sharing extensive amino acid sequence homology with MutS homologs ...

Reversibly locked thionucleobase pairs in DNA to study base flipping enzymes

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
Covalently interstrand cross-linked DNA is an interesting tool to study DNA binding proteins that locally open up the DNA duplex by flipping single bases out of the DNA helix or melting whole stretches of base pairs to perform their function.

Cryo-EM structure of the E. coli translating ribosome in complex with SRP and its receptor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report the 'early' conformation of the Escherichia coli signal recognition particle (SRP) and its receptor FtsY bound to the translating ribosome, as determined by cryo-EM.

Thermostable polynucleotide phosphorylases from Bacillus stearothermophilus and Thermus aquaticus

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1976
Polynucleotide phosphorylase from Bacillus stearothermophilus has been purified to homogeneity. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis run under denaturing conditions indicates that the enzyme is a tetramer with subunits of apparent molecular weight 51,000 daltons.

Attenuative effects of collagen peptide from milkfish (Chanos chanos) scales on ovariectomy‐induced osteoporosis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 116-130, January 2024.
Collagen peptide from milkfish (Chanos chanos) may reduce RANKL‐induced osteoclast activity while promoting osteoblast synthesis, and therefore may act as a potential therapeutic agent for the prevention and control of osteoporosis. Abstract Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass, bone microarchitecture disruption, and collagen loss, leading to

Pressure and temperature dependence of growth and morphology of Escherichia coli: Experiments and Stochastic Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We have investigated the growth of Escherichia coli E.coli, a mesophilic bacterium, as a function of pressure $P$ and temperature $T$. E.coli can grow and divide in a wide range of pressure (1-400atm) and temperature ($23-40^{\circ}$C). For $T>30^{\circ}$

Development of an Injectable DNA Vaccine Against Aeromonas hydrophila Infection Nanoencapsulated With Poly(Lactic‐Co‐Glycolic) Acid (PLGA) in Common Carp

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
In this study, we developed an injectable DNA vaccine targeting the aopB gene of Aeromonas hydrophila, encapsulated within poly(lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles, for use in common carp. Juvenile common carp were divided into six groups with three replicates each.

Isolation and characterization of aerobic anoxygenic phototrophs from exposed soils from the Sør Rondane Mountains, East Antarctica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This study investigated the culturable aerobic phototrophic bacteria present in soil samples collected in the proximity of the Belgian Princess Elisabeth Station in the Sot. Rondane Mountains, East Antarctica.

Analysis of the spc ribosomal protein operon of Thermus aquaticus [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1991
The gene region of Thermus aquaticus corresponding to the distal portion of the S10 operon and to the 5′‐portion of the Escherichia coli spc operon was cloned, using the E. coli gene for the ribosomal protein L5 as hybridization probe. The gene arrangement was found to be identical to E. coli, i.e. S17, L14, L24, L5, S14, S8 and L6.

Dynamics of \u3cem\u3eE. Coli\u3c/em\u3e Single Stranded DNA Binding (SSB) Protein-DNA Complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Single stranded DNA binding proteins (SSB) are essential to the cell as they stabilize transiently open single stranded DNA (ssDNA) intermediates, recruit appropriate DNA metabolism proteins, and coordinate fundamental processes such as replication ...
