Online Identification of Thevenin Equivalent Circuit Model Parameters and Estimation State of Charge of Lithium-Ion Batteries [PDF]

open access: yes2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe), 2018
On Electrical and Hybrid Vehicles (EVs, HEVs), energy is stored in accumulators, mainly electro-chemical batteries. A reliable and cost effective management of energy storage system is a key point for the development of such devices, their durability and for vehicle performance optimization.

Shapelet‐Based Method for Short‐Term Voltage Stability Assessment Considering Interaction Mechanisms in Multi‐Infeed HVDC System

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
The study presents a shapelet‐based method for short‐term voltage stability assessment in multi‐infeed HVDC systems, directly addressing the challenges of high‐dimensional, nonlinear and time‐varying phenomena intrinsic to modern power grids. By integrating a multi‐timescale interaction mechanism with an interpretable time‐series data mining approach ...

Admittance‑Based Two‑Stage Optimisation of GFM‑STATCOM Parameters for Transient Voltage Support in DFIG Wind Farms

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper builds an admittance model for a DFIG‐STATCOM parallel system. Based on the system, the paper provides a method to optimise the control of the STATCOM, which aims to increase the performance of the system during symmetrical faults .

Robustness and Performance Analysis of a Current‐Controlled Quasi‐Stationary Electrical Model Virtual Synchronous Machine Using a Parameter‐Dependent Operating Point

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper analyzes the robustness of a current‐controlled quasi‐stationary electrical model virtual synchronous machine. Fundamental limitations of structured singular value‐based stability analysis are revealed for nonlinear converter‐dominated power systems when parametric uncertainties significantly affect the operating point.

Python‐Based Integration of Harmonic Domain Models of Grid‐Connected Switched Systems for Power Flow Analysis

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
A new Python‐based methodology that combines the advantages of two established techniques for analysing electrical power systems is presented. An innovative closed‐loop automation solution of IBRs modelled in HD and its integration into power flow analysis in PSS/E is presented.

Short‐Circuit Current Analysis of Grid‐Connected Inverters: An Analytical Approach Using Hardware Natural Response and Control Superposition

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a closed‐form analytical framework predicting the sub‐cycle transient peak currents of grid‐following and grid‐forming inverters during short‐circuit faults. The method uniquely decouples the fault current into a hardware natural response and a control‐commanded response, enabling rapid estimation of instantaneous initial peaks ...

Thevenin Equivalent Circuit Estimation and Application for Power System Monitoring and Protection

open access: yes, 2008
The Estimation of Thevenin Equivalent Parameters is useful for System Monitoring and Protection. We studied a method for estimating the Thevenin equivalent circuits. We then studied two applications including voltage stability and fault location. A study

Voltage sag source identification based on the sign of internal resistance in a “Thevenin's equivalent circuit”

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, 2017
Summary This paper briefly introduces the existing methods for voltage sag source location and theoretically analyzes some reasons why high accuracy cannot be achieved by using these methods. Based on the redefined voltage sag source location “reference direction” and the analysis of voltage sag source's influences in power network, it is pointed out ...
