A Parameter Extraction Method for the Thevenin Equivalent Circuit Model of Li-ion Batteries [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2019
This paper presents a novel parameter extraction method for the Thevenin equivalent circuit model of Lithium-ion batteries. The proposed approach represents each of the RC parallel branches of the Thevenin equivalent circuit model of a Lithium-ion battery as a first order linear time-invariant (LTI) system.

Current estimation using Thevenin battery model

Proceedings of the Joint International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology and Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering (ICEVT & IMECE), 2015
Current sensor is an important part of Battery Management System (BMS). Current information of a battery is very important to estimate the value of State of Charge (SOC) as a component of fault detection. Fault detection is very important to implement in BMS because of its function to protect battery from damage caused by over discharge and overcharge.

SOC Estimation of Lithium-Ion Battery Packs Based on Thevenin Model

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Due to the immeasurability of SOC in battery and inevitability of error in current collection, SOC estimation of Lithium-ion battery has become a focus of EV research. With Thevenin equivalent circuit model, this paper employs EKF algorithm to estimate SOC, which takes into consideration both precision requirement of the estimation and amount of ...

An improved model based on artificial neural networks and Thevenin model for nickel metal hydride power battery

2010 International Conference on Optics, Photonics and Energy Engineering (OPEE), 2010
Based on artificial neural networks and Thenvenin model, this paper uses an improved model predicting state of charge. We combine artificial neural networks model with Thevenin model, and predict state of charge in real time at the same time. When the difference between the predictive value of artificial neural networks model and the predictive value ...

A Dynamic Model of Impedance for Online Thevenin’s Equivalent Estimation

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2022
A time domain dynamic model of impedance has been developed in this work for online estimation of Thevenin’s equivalent impedance of a network seen from a bus. Although the time domain impedance (ratio of instantaneous AC voltage and current) is undefined in a period, a zone of definition and workability has been defined.

Accurate Thevenin's circuit-based battery model parameter identification

2016 IEEE 25th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2016
Batteries are becoming the main energy storage devices in following decades. Highly accurate battery models are needed to fulfill accurate controlling and monitoring purpose. For real-time operations, the calculation complexity of the battery model is an issue. Thevenin's circuit model is a tradeoff between fast calculation and accuracy. The model uses
