REPORT OF CASE A white married woman aged 72, who had no prior history of allergic symptoms, was advised by her physician in September 1940 to take thiamine hydrochloride subcutaneously each day for ten days.

Evidence is presented through spectrophotometric as well as vapour pressure measurements to show that thiamine hydrochloride and DL-alpha-lipoic acid form a single 1:1 complex.
