Mineral Deposition From Liquid Precursors Triggered by Complementary Polyelectrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyelectrolyte additives can delay or prevent crystal nucleation in supersaturated solutions of insoluble mineral salts such as calcium carbonate. This work reports that adding a second, oppositely‐charged polyelectrolyte leads to immediate mineral crystallization from such metastable solutions.

Patching and Thickening Problems

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1999
In this nicely written paper the authors develop the machinery of patching techniques in formal geometry which has been used to prove results on fundamental groups of algebraic curves. Among the results obtained we have the Abhyankar conjecture [\textit{M. Raynaud}, Invent. Math. 116, No. 1-3, 425-462 (1994; Zbl 0798.14013) and \textit{D.

Atomically Dispersed Ni Site Catalysts Accelerating Sluggish Sulfur Redox Kinetics in Nonaqueous Zn‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomically dispersed Ni catalyst featuring Ni‐N4 coordination is developed as a sulfur host for nonaqueous Zn─S batteries. This configuration modulates the electronic structure to lower activation barriers during rate‐limiting steps and promotes a robust ZnF2‐rich cathode‐electrolyte interphase, thereby accelerating sulfur redox kinetics ...

Broadband Silicon‐On‐Glass Reflective Dielectric Metasurface for THz Beam Steering in 6G Wireless Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A CMOS‐compatible, all‐dielectric Silicon‐on‐Glass reflective metasurface enables low–loss terahertz wavefront control for future 6G wireless communication. Mie‐resonant silicon pillars provide full phase coverage near 500 GHz, achieving experimentally validated single‐, dual‐, and five‐beam steering with sub‐1.5° angular error and less than 3 dB ...

Molecular Dynamics Simulation on Thickening and Solubility Properties of Novel Thickener in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

open access: yesMolecules
Supercritical CO2 has wide application in enhancing oil recovery, but the low viscosity of liquid CO2 can lead to issues such as poor proppant-carrying ability and high filtration loss.

Thermoresponsive Soft and Self‐Anchoring Cuff Electrode for Chronic Peripheral Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel thermoresponsive, soft and self‐anchoring (TSSA) cuff electrode utilizing shape memory polymers achieves autonomous, sutureless peripheral nerve fixation. Driven by thermally induced pre‐strain and tissue adhesion, the device self‐closes and softens at body temperature, successfully minimizing mechanical mismatch. This adaptive platform ensures

Freeze‐Thaw Engineered Dual Conductivity Polymeric Binder Stabilizes Large‐Volume‐Change Lithium–Ion Battery Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work developed an all‐aqueous freeze‐thaw strategy to create a dual‐conductive PVA/P3KBT binder for high volume‐change lithium–ion battery anodes. The resulting binder system strengthens the electrode structure, supports ion and electron transport, and accommodates repeated volume changes, reducing cracking and improving long‐term cycling ...

Regulation and a mathematical model of underflow in paste thickeners based on a circular system design

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2017
To assure that compression on the rakes of a deep corn thickener does not stop mixing, an additional circular slurry system, which activates slurry all the time, is employed and running resistance is usually decreased. However, there is still uncertainty
