Time‐dependent behavior and wall slip in concentrated shear thickening dispersions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Rheology, 1991
The viscosity of concentrated shear thickening dispersions was measured as a function of shear rate, Couette cylinder size, and time. The level of the low shear rate viscosity, which was found to be independent of system size and time, could be predicted by the equation of Frankel and Acrivos.

Analysis of Successive Internode Growth in Sweet Sorghum Using Leaf Number as a Plant Age Indicator

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2011
In sweet sorghum, which is a potential biomass crop, the diameter of internode is an important component of stem yield. However, the thickening of successive internodes is poorly understood.

Pseudochylothorax without pleural thickening: time to reconsider pathogenesis?

open access: yesChest, 2009
Pseudochylothorax (cholesterol pleurisy or chyliform effusion) is a cholesterol-rich pleural effusion that is commonly associated with chronic inflammatory disorders such as tuberculosis or rheumatoid arthritis. Until now, there were only 15 published cases of arthritis-associated pseudochylothorax in the English language literature.

Influence of Processing and Storage on the Shear Thickening Properties of Highly Concentrated Monodisperse Silica Particles in Polyethylene Glycol

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2013
The shear thickening behavior of concentrated suspensions can be exploited to dissipate energy during impact or shear loading. To preserve the consistency of the thickening behavior in practical applications, particle concentration, and dispersion should
