The secular thickening of a self-gravitating stellar galactic disc is investigated using the dressed collisionless Fokker-Planck equation and the inhomogeneous multicomponent Balescu-Lenard equation.

Cats with thermal burn injuries from California wildfires show echocardiographic evidence of myocardial thickening and intracardiac thrombi. [PDF]
Recent increases in the prevalence and severity of wildfires in some regions have resulted in an increased frequency of veterinary burn patients. Few studies exist regarding diagnostics and management of burn wounds in veterinary patients and current ...

Nonlinear rheology of colloidal dispersions [PDF]
Colloidal dispersions are commonly encountered in everyday life and represent an important class of complex fluid. Of particular significance for many commercial products and industrial processes is the ability to control and manipulate the macroscopic ...

AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Diaphragm thickening in cardiac surgery: a perioperative prospective ultrasound study
Background Diaphragm paresis is common after cardiac surgery and may delay the weaning from the ventilator. Our objective was to evaluate diaphragm thickening during weaning and secondly the muscle thickness as a marker of myotrauma.

Analysis of temperature effects near mode I cracks in glassy polymers [PDF]
A previous isothermal study has shown that the toughness of glassy polymers is governed by the competition between shear yielding and crazing. The present work aims at investigating loading rates for which thermal effects need to be accounted for.

This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Modeling and controlling clarifier–thickeners fed by suspensions with time-dependent properties
A one-dimensional model of the process of continuous sedimentation in a clarifier–thickener unit is presented. The governing model is expressed as a system of two nonlinear partial differential equations for the solids volume fraction and the varying settling velocity of the solids as functions of depth and time. This model extends the well-known model

Shear thickening in concentrated suspensions: phenomenology, mechanisms, and relations to jamming
Shear thickening is a type of non-Newtonian behavior in which the stress required to shear a fluid increases faster than linearly with shear rate. Many concentrated suspensions of particles exhibit an especially dramatic version, known as Discontinuous ...

Experiments on the Richtmyer–Meshkov instability: Small-scale perturbations on a plane interface [PDF]
This paper reports the results of measurements of the "visual thickness," obtained from flow visualization experiments by the schlieren method, of initially plane interfaces between two gases under impulsive accelerations.
