The thickness of the epidermis

British Journal of Dermatology, 1973
SUMMARY Epidermal thickness has been accurately measured on 214 samples of skin from 188 volunteers. Variations with the individual, body site, sex and age are described and discussed. An original technique of measurement has been developed which has several advantages over conventional methods.

Skinfold Thickness

Pediatrics, 1982
The paper by Heimler et al1 concerning thermal environmental effects on growth and increase in skinfold thickness in premature infants was of interest to us in relation to our own work on macronutrient and energy accretion in the very low-birth-weight preterm infant.

SKIN THICKNESS AND SKINFOLD THICKNESS IN ANOREXIA NERVOSA

British Journal of Dermatology, 1971
SUMMARY.— Skin thickness measured radiographically and skinfold thickness measured by callipers were determined in 6 patients with anorexia nervosa before treatment and after restoration of body weight. Pre-treatment skin thickness measurements fell at the lower limit of normal or actually below this.

How Thick is the Lithosphere ?

Nature, 1970
A rapid decrease in shear velocity in the suboceanic mantle is used to infer the thickness of the lithosphere. It is proposed that new and highly precise group velocity data constrain the solutions and imply a thickness near 70 km.

The Thickness of Graphs: A Survey

Graphs and Combinatorics, 1998
The study of the thickness parameter for graphs is surveyed, both in terms of theoretical results and practical computation. Three heuristics for planarization are compared, the approach being to iteratively extract possibly large planar subgraphs until a planar subgraph remains.
