Study Design for a Multicenter, Randomized Controlled Trial Evaluating the Diagnostic Value of Ultrathin Bronchoscope Compared to Thin Bronchoscope Without Fluoroscopy for Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions [PDF]
Ultrathin bronchoscope (UTB) with a 3.0-mm outer diameter and a 1.7-mm working channel currently appeared as a potential tool for better biopsy and diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) by accessing more distal bronchus. However, published research is primarily limited to diagnosis value of UTB for PPLs with fluoroscopy, the value of UTB ...

Radial Endobronchial Ultrasonography With Distance Measurement Through a Thin Bronchoscope for the Diagnosis of Malignant Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions [PDF]
Peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) are being discovered more frequently. We investigated efficiency, safety, and influencing factors in radial probe endobronchial ultrasound with distance measurement (rEBUS-D) using a thin bronchoscope during transbronchial biopsy (TBB) for the diagnosis of malignant PPLs.Patients with PPLs who underwent rEBUS were ...

Is the Thin Bronchoscope the Right Compromise Between Ultrathin and Conventional Bronchoscopy for Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions (PPLs)? A Retrospective Study [PDF]
Background/Objectives: Peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) are the current challenge in bronchoscopy. Novel endoscopic approaches allow us to reach PPLs better than a few years ago. In patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), perioperative chemotherapy is associated with significantly greater event-free survival; this means that ...

Initial Experience of Medical Pleuroscopy via the Peel-Away Introducer of the Indwelling Pleural Catheter Using a Thin Bronchoscope [PDF]
We present a case series describing a modified technique of combining medical Pleuroscopy (MP) and indwelling pleural catheter (IPC) placement for obtaining pleural biopsies and managing recurrent pleural effusions. The unique feature of this technique is the introduction of a thin bronchoscope through the peel-away introducer of IPC to obtain pleural ...

Thin bronchoscopic cryobiopsy using a nasobronchial tube
Background Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy is useful when diagnosing lung lesions. However, prevention of associated bleeding complications is essential. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of our novel bronchoscopic cryobiopsy technique,

Comparison of radial endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial lung biopsy with distance measurement versus with guide sheath in diagnosing peripheral pulmonary lesions with a diameter ≥3 cm by thin bronchoscope [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to explore the diagnostic values of radial endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial lung biopsy with distance (rEBUS-D-TBLB) measurement and with guide sheath (rEBUS-GS-TBLB) for peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) with a

Epidermal growth factor receptor mutation‐positive advanced lung adenocarcinoma presenting with acute respiratory failure diagnosed by thin bronchoscope through transnasal route under high‐concentration oxygen mask [PDF]
A 59‐year‐old woman complained of continuous dyspnea. Computed tomography revealed multiple pulmonary nodules, mildly small enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes and a nodule in the liver segment 8.

Thin Bronchoscope for Evaluating Stenotic Airways During Stenting Procedures [PDF]
Background: Flexible bronchoscopy can play an important role in the evaluation of an airway lumen during therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures. Despite its potential usefulness, however, evaluation with a standard-sized bronchoscope, which cannot pass completely through a severely stenosed airway, is often unsatisfactory.

The Ultra-Thin Bronchoscope in Management of the Difficult Paediatric Airway [PDF]
The use of an ultra-thin flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope with a single lumen diameter of 2.7 mm at the distal tip to assist intubation of paediatric patients with a difficult airway is reported. Two patients (ages 30 months and 18 months) with mandibular hypoplasia and one patient (three months) with the Pierre-Robin syndrome are reported.
