Ultra Short Pulse Laser Welding of Glass to Metal in the Low Fluence Regime

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Ultrashortpulse laser welding enables precise joining of glass and metal with minimal thermal damage. We introduce the TwoThresholds Criteria to identify suitable laser parameters by combining the nonlinearabsorption threshold in glass with the metalmodification fluence threshold.

Experimental and Comparative Study of the Corrosion Behavior of Lean Duplex Stainless Steel in Seawater

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
The localized corrosion behavior of lean duplex stainless steel EN 1.4062 is systematically compared with austenitic and higher‐alloyed duplex grades in natural seawater. A clear resistance ranking is established, highlighting EN 1.4062 as a cost‐effective alternative for limited marine exposure.

Thermo-Mechanical Process-Induced Residual Stresses and Deformation Analysis During Manufacturing of Hull Structure

open access: yesMemoria Investigaciones en Ingeniería
Hull structures such as stiffened plates and thin panels are the building blocks of ship structures, and therefore understanding their manufacturing process is of utmost importance. The welding process has been widely used to join stiffeners, stringers,

Chromium Salt: A Review of Salt Formation, Hygroscopic Properties, and Impact on 316 L Corrosion in Hydrochloric Acid

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
This article examines the impact of externally introduced chromium compounds on the localized corrosion of 316 L stainless steel in acidic chloride environments such as hydrochloric acid. While the corrosion resistance of 316 L relies on the formation of a chromium‐rich passive oxide layer, industrial conditions may expose the steel to various chromium

Cold Gas Sprayed Titanium Coating for Corrosion Protection of Bipolar Plates in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Climate‐neutral green hydrogen is produced via water electrolysis using renewable energy. This study explores using cold gas spraying to apply titanium coatings on steel bipolar plates for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers. The coating shows effective corrosion protection, presenting a promising solution for future designs.

Chemically and Mechanically Recyclable Polyolefins Incorporating Covalent Adaptable Networks

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Low‐molecular‐weight polypropylene is converted into a crosslinked polyolefin containing a covalently adaptable network. The semicrystalline material remains melt‐processable and mechanically recyclable. Its thermal and mechanical properties are comparable to commercial polyolefins.

Detecting Loosening of Bolt‐Flanged Pipe Using Smoothed Pseudo Wigner–Ville Distribution: Digital Twin‐Based Approach Using Convolution Neural Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, an integrated digital twin‐based fault‐diagnosis framework is proposed to detect bolt loosening in flanged pipe connections. The approach combines finite element‐based numerical modeling, experimental modal analysis, and advanced signal processing‐assisted deep learning to achieve reliable loosening detection under operational ...
