EFFECT OF THINNING ON GROWTH AND WOOD PRODUCTION OF NATURALLY REGENERATED 8-YEAR-OLD ACACIA MANGIUM WILLD. PLANTATION ON ABANDONED MINING AREA, SOUTHERN THAILAND

open access: yesBiotropia: The Southeast Asian Journal of Tropical Biology, 2023
Thinning is an important practice for promoting growth and maintaining forest plantation for wood production from the remaining trees. In this study, thinning was carried out in a naturally regenerated 8-year-old Acacia mangium plot in the Phangnga ...

Technologies and Equipment of Mechanized Blossom Thinning in Orchards: A Review

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Orchard thinning can avoid biennial bearing and improve fruit quality, which is a necessary agronomic section in orchard management. The existing methods of artificial fruit thinning and chemical spraying are no longer suitable for the development of ...

Chemical thinning of 'Conference' pears [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The increasing difference in the market value of small and larger sized ‘Conference’ pears (>65 mm) and the high labour costs for hand thinning, makes it interesting for growers to find a cheaper and reliable method for thinning pear trees. In 2007, 2008

A Contour Approach to Thinning Algorithms

open access: yesCommunications, 2009
Thinning algorithms are widely used in many image processing tasks. Many thinning algorithms were proposed but they usually tend to process all image pixels in every iteration. Two approaches to contour thinning are described and a short discussion about

Progressive Cortical Thinning in Patients With Focal Epilepsy.

open access: yesJAMA Neurology, 2019
Importance It is controversial whether epilepsy is a static or progressive disease. Evidence of progressive gray matter loss in epilepsy would support early diagnosis, rapid treatment, and early referral for surgical interventions.

Physics of Rheologically-Enhanced Propulsion: Different Strokes in Generalized Stokes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Shear-thinning is an important rheological property of many biological fluids, such as mucus, whereby the apparent viscosity of the fluid decreases with shear.

Thin buildings [PDF]

open access: yesGeometry & Topology, 2006
Let X be a building of uniform thickness q+1. L^2-Betti numbers of X are reinterpreted as von-Neumann dimensions of weighted L^2-cohomology of the underlying Coxeter group. The dimension is measured with the help of the Hecke algebra. The weight depends on the thickness q.

Thin Lenses and Thin Cameras

open access: yes, 2021
Cassegrain designs can be used to build thin lenses. We analyze the relationships between system thickness and aperture sizes of the two mirrors as well as FoV size. Our analysis shows that decrease in lens thickness imposes tight constraint on the aperture and FoV size.

Methods To Assess Shear-Thinning Hydrogels for Application As Injectable Biomaterials

open access: yesACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering, 2017
Injectable hydrogels have gained popularity as a vehicle for the delivery of cells, growth factors, and other molecules to localize and improve their retention at the injection site, as well as for the mechanical bulking of tissues.
