Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Early-arriving saproxylic beetles developing in Scots pine stumps: effects of felling type and date

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2012
A total of 320 Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) low stumps were analysed within two stands (one stand was thinned, and the other stand was subjected to clear-cut final felling) in the Drahanská Highlands in the Czech Republic. Each stand was divided into

Thin‐Film Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, 2022
AbstractOver the last 30 years, the study of ferroelectric oxides has been revolutionized by the implementation of epitaxial‐thin‐film‐based studies, which have driven many advances in the understanding of ferroelectric physics and the realization of novel polar structures and functionalities.

About Thinning Invariant Partition Structures

open access: yes, 2012
Bernoulli-$p$ thinning has been well-studied for point processes. Here we consider three other cases: (1) sequences $(X_1,X_2,...)$; (2) gaps of such sequences $(X_{n+1}-X_1)_{n\in\mathbb{N}}$; (3) partition structures. For the first case we characterize

Thinning of the Monte Perdido Glacier in the Spanish Pyrenees since 1981 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Producción CientíficaThis paper analyzes the evolution of the Monte Perdido Glacier, the third largest glacier in the Pyrenees, from 1981 to the present. We assessed the evolution of the glacier's surface area by analysis of aerial photographs from 1981,

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Aboveground biomass of substitute tree species stand with respect to thinning - European larch (Larix decidua Mill.)

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2011
This study is focused on substitute European larch stands in the Krušné hory Mts. (northern part of the Czech Republic). Research was conducted within larch thinning experiment Kalek (780 m a.s.l.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Soil labile organic carbon and carbon-cycle enzyme activities under different thinning intensities in Chinese fir plantations

open access: yes, 2016
Thinning is a silvicultural tool that is used to facilitate the growth of timber plantations worldwide. Plantations are important CO2 sinks, but the mechanism by which thinning affects the quantity and stability of soil organic carbon (SOC) is poorly ...

Growth characteristics of oak (Quercus petraea [Mattusch.] Liebl.) stand under different thinning regimes

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2012
In the paper, selected quantitative characteristics of 57-year-old oak pole stage stand were analysed on plots with different thinning regimes at its establishment. Six thinning treatments were performed in an interval of 8, 14 and/or 5 years. We applied
