Method for retarding dye fading during archival storage of developed color photographic film [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Dye fading during archival storage of developed color photographic film is retarded by placing the film in a sealed, opaque vault, introducing a dry, pressurized inert gas into the vault while the latter is vented, and sealing the vault after the air ...

Solvent and Ion‐Mediated Behavior of a Thermoresponsive Brush: Specific Ion Effects in Methanol‐Water Electrolytes

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
The manifestation of specific ion effects in methanol‐water mixtures on polymer brush exemplars is explored. Spectroscopic ellipsometry and neutron reflectometry revealed solvent‐driven LCST changes in a thermoresponsive brush, which is also readily influenced by the presence of electrolytes.

Evidence for a Modulatory Effect of a 12‐Week Pomegranate Juice Intervention on the Transcriptional Response in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients Reducing Fecal Calprotectin Levels: Findings From a Proof‐of‐Principle Study

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This study investigated how pomegranate juice affects inflammation in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are currently in remission. After 12 weeks of drinking pomegranate juice, patients showed reduced markers of intestinal inflammation.

Extraction of Traces of Copper as Tetra-Butylammonium Tetrathiocyanato Copper (II) and Its Spectrophotometric Determination Using Eriochrome Black T [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 1993
An extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of traces of copper (II) is described. The method is based on the quantitative extraction of copper as tetrabutylammonium tetrathiocyanato copper (II) into methyl isobutyl ketone, followed by ...

Electron Photodetachment from Aqueous Anions. III. Dynamics of Geminate Pairs Derived from Photoexcitation of Mono- vs. Poly- atomic Anions

open access: yes, 2005
Photostimulated electron detachment from aqueous inorganic anions is the simplest example of solvent-mediated electron transfer. Here we contrast the behavior of halide anions with that of small polyatomic anions, such as pseudohalide anions (e.g., HS ...

End-to-end thiocyanato-bridged helical chain polymer and dichlorido-bridged copper(II) complexes with a hydrazone ligand: synthesis, characterisation by electron paramagnetic resonance and variable- temperature magnetic studies, and inhibitory effects on human colorectal carcinoma cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The reactions of the tridentate hydrazone ligand, N’-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene]acetohydrazide (HL), obtained by condensation of 2-acetylpyridine with acetic hyadrazide, with copper nitrate trihydrate in the presence of thiocyanate, or with CuCl2 ...

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal genotype and nuclear organization as driving factors in host plant nutrient acquisition and stable carbon storage

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
It is crucial to develop strategies for reducing our continued excessive global increases in fertilizer applications and to offset CO2 emissions. The pervasive underground hyphal networks of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) present an enticing bio‐stimulant and carbon sink. We inoculated Sudan‐grass plants with eight genotypically distinct strains of
