Azulene-1,3-bis(semicarbazone), 1, and azulene-1,3-bis(thiosemicarbazone), 2, were synthesized by the acid-catalyzed condensation reactions of semicarbazide and thiosemicarbazide, respectively, with azulene-1,3-dicarboxaldehyde in stoichiometric amounts.
