The effect of thiosulfate-oxidizing bacteria on the stability of the gold-thiosulfate complex

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 2005
An Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans spp., isolated from the Driefontein Consolidated Gold Mine, Witwatersrand Basin, Republic of South Africa was able to precipitate gold from Au(S2O3)23− in the presence of up to 0.26 mM gold. In chemical control experiments and with the presence of dead bacteria, gold was not precipitated under similar experimental ...

La Détermination des Thiosulfates par L'Hypobromite de Soude en Milieu Alcalin

, 2010
Nous avons etudie le dosage des thiosulfates par l'hypobromite en exces en milieu alcalin. Les solutions d'hypobromite de soude, preparees a partir d'une solution bromate-bromure sont caracterisees par une parfaite stabilite.

The role of thiosulfates in the pitting corrosion of Fe-17Cr alloys in neutral chloride solution: Electrochemical and XPS study

, 1997
The role of thiosulfates in pitting induced by chlorides on Fe-17Cr alloys in neutral medium was investigated by electrochemical and XPS techniques. The concentration was 30 ppm S2O32− in 0.02 M NaCl.

Organic Thiosulfates (Bunte Salts): Novel Surface-Active Sulfur Compounds for the Preparation of Self-Assembled Monolayers on Gold

, 1999
In this paper, we demonstrate that organic thiosulfates (Bunte salts) with the general formula R−SSO3M, where R is either an aliphatic or aromatic group and M a monovalent cation, constitute a novel class of surface-active compounds with a sulfur ...

Analysis of organic salts by laser ionization mass spectrometry. Sulfonates, sulfates and thiosulfates

, 1972
Sodium and potassium salts of organic sulfonates (1-decyl, 1-dodecyl and 1-hexadecyl), sulfates (1-hexyl, 1-decyl and 1-octadecyl) and thiosulfates (1-octyl, 1-dodecyl, 1-tetradecyl, 1-hexadecyl, benzyl and β-phenylethyl) were ionized by laser ...

Thiosulfate-Schiff Reagent

Stain Technology, 1961
Na2S2O3 and HCl can be used as the reducing system to make Schiff reagent, the sulfur produced by the reaction acting as the adsorbent and consequently eliminating the need of decolorizing charcoal. To 100 ml of a 0.02% solution of basic fuchsin add 8 gm of dry Na2S2O3 shake for 3 min, add 0.5 ml of cone. HCl (final concentration 0.05 N).
