Effects of naturopathic medicines on Multiplate and ROTEM: a prospective experimental pilot study in healthy volunteers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Of patients undergoing surgery, 22 to 57 % have been reported to be using naturopathic medicines. Several of these medicines have been reported to increase bleeding or enhance the effect of other drugs that increase bleeding. The Swedish Medical Products

Influence of Ion Size on Structure and Redox Chemistry in Na‐Rich and Li‐Rich Disordered Rocksalt Battery Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The larger ion size of Na+ versus with Li+ has a pronounced impact on the intercalation chemistry of disordered rocksalt cathode materials. On charge, the disordered rocksalt structure is retained in Li2MnO2F but it is lost in Na2MnO2F resulting in extensive amorphization.

Thiosulfate Reductase of Desulfovibrio vulgaris [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1971
The thiosulfate reductase of Desulfovibrio vulgaris has been purified and some of its properties have been determined. Only one protein component was detected when the purified enzyme was subjected to polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis at p H values of 8.9, 8.0, and 7.6. In the presence of H

Sonicated Carbon Nanotube Catalysts for Efficient Point‐of‐use Water Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The growing demand for freshwater and rising contamination of water sources require innovative treatment technologies. Sonicated carbon nanotubes can activate persulfate for selective contaminant degradation via nonradical pathways. This scalable approach enables rapid pollutant removal, offering a sustainable solution for decentralized freshwater ...

Synergistic Cathode‐Electrolyte Engineering for Enhanced Longevity in Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thanks to the synergism of abundant active sites and the superior catalytic effect of the uf‐MBene/CNT cathode host, along with uniform lithium ion deposition facilitated by adding Na2SeO3 additives, the cell with this S@uf‐MBene/CNT cathode and Na2SeO3 additive can maintain stable cycling for up to 850 cycles with a capacity retention rate of 93.6% at

Carbon Dioxide Capture from Ambient Air Using Amine-Grafted Mesoporous Adsorbents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) have been identified as a major contributor to climate change. An attractive approach to tackle the increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere is direct extraction via absorption of CO2 from ambient air, to

Revisiting the Impact of Anion Selection on Sulfur Redox Reaction Kinetics for High Sulfur Loading Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur redox reactions are systematically evaluated with nine commercial lithium salts and developed a new LiTFSI‐free, PFAS‐free electrolyte for Li–S batteries. LiBOB, once considered incompatible, forms a stable cathode‐electrolyte interphase, suppressing the shuttle effect and delivering excellent performance in high‐loading Li–S cells, offering a ...

Human Bone‐Derived Endothelial Cells Mediate Bone Regeneration via Distinct Expression of KIT Ligand

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone‐specific endothelial cells (b‐ECs) uniquely express KITLG, which recruits c‐Kit+/CD34+ hematopoietic progenitors (HPCs) to the osteovascular niche, initiating a cascade that culminates in the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (bm‐MSCs) and subsequent ossification.
