Carbon adsorption and leaching of gold by acid thiourea

International Journal of Mineral Processing, 1993
Abstract This work reports on the advantages of using thiourea as a leaching agent to recover gold from auriferous ores containing 10.55 gr. Au/Ton. In terms of gold recovery, leaching time and chemical consumption, the use of carbon-in-pulp in the leaching process with thiourea is more efficient than a normal process.

Leaching behavior of palladium in thiourea/acid solutions

Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, 1996
The dissolution behavior of palladium powder in thiourea solutions was investigated. The variables studied were temperature, stirring speed and the concentrations of thiourea, acid and ferric ion. Palladium was found to be soluble in thiourea solutions in the presence of an oxidant such as ferric ion.

Leaching of gold from a Portuguese concentrate with thiourea

Minerals Engineering, 1992
Abstract A Portuguese gold concentrate constituted mainly of arsenopyrite was leached with thiourea in sulphuric acid medium. two sets of experiments were carried out to determine the effect of some variables on gold extraction. The variables studied were: thiourea concentration, the concentration and type of the oxidizing agent, pulp density and ...

Effect of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Leptospirillum ferrooxidans on preg-robbing of gold by graphite from thiourea leaching solution

, 2020
Carbonaceous matter (CM) is one of the main reasons for the decrease of gold recovery in refractory gold ores. Bio-pretreatment of carbonaceous gold ores makes the reduction the preg-robbing of gold, and has attracted significant attention recently due ...

New Aspects in Thiourea Leaching of Precious Metals

JOM, 1984
High reagent consumption and low efficiencies are the main obstacles against common use of thiourea for the leaching of precious metals. A new technique of universal application has been developed by which reagent consumption is depressed to about 0.5 kg/t while high metal yields are achieved and passivation of feed material is avoided.

Thiourea leaching of silver from mechanically activated tetrahedrite

Hydrometallurgy, 1996
Abstract The thiourea leaching of silver from a tetrahedrite concentrate mechanically activated in a planetary mill or an attritor was studied. It was found that the two types of equipment gave rise to different rates of new surface formation and of crystal structure disordering.

Study on mechanism of gold leaching by thiourea in the presence of sodium sulphite

Journal of Central South University of Technology, 2000
The linear potential sweep voltammetry and electrochemical methods were used to study the mechanism and kinetics of gold dissolution in thiourea solution in the absence and presence of sodium sulphite. The results show that in the absence of sodium sulfite the dissolution rate of gold in thiourea solution is relatively slow and it increases with the ...

Thiourea leaching of a copper-gold ore using statistical design

Hydrometallurgy, 1998
Thiourea was used to leach gold from ore containing 0.4% Cu and 5.6 g/t Au. The parameters studied were acid pretreatment, leaching time, pH, thiourea concentration and the oxidizing agents used. Gold extraction was 89% and thiourea consumption was 3.9 kg/t. No acid consumption was observed during leaching at pH 3.

Effects of biodegradation and mechanical activation on gold recovery by thiourea leaching

JOM, 1993
The work reported here shows the positive influence of the biodegradation of the crystal lattice of sulfides on the thiourea leaching of gold from an arsenopyrite-pyrite concentrate. Physical processing of the original as well as of the biologically processed concentrate favorably influenced gold recovery.
