Physiology & Behavior, 1967Abstract Thirst induced by subcutaneous injection of a hyperoncotic colloidal solution and associated with decreased intravascular fluid volume (hypovolemia) was contrasted with thirst induced by subcutaneous injection of hypertonic NaCl solution and associated with hyperosmolarity and decreased intracellular fluid volume.
