ADDING A WETTING ROUTINE TO THOMPSON'S MODEL

Transactions of the ASAE, 1991
ABSTRACT BSTRACT Equilibrium moisture content equations and wetting theories were evaluated and a selected combination incorporated into the Thompson Drying model as a wetting routine. The new model (NATURAL) was further modified to establish an hysteresis between drying and wetting.

MODELING EFFECTIVD MOISTURE DIFFUSIVITY OF ORANGE (THOMPSON VARIETY)

The Proceedings of the 5th Asia-Pacific Drying Conference, 2007
Drying is one of the primary methods of food preservation. Determining coefficients used in drying models is essential to predict the drying behaviour. The present study was conducted to compute effective moisture diffusivity and activation energy of samples of orange slices.

Model-Based Adaptive Modulation and Coding with Latent Thompson Sampling

2021 IEEE 32nd Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2021
Wireless links use adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) to optimize data transmission over a dynamic channel. Traditional AMC schemes rely on simple heuristics to track the instantaneous channel state. While attractive for their low implementation and operational complexity, these schemes are known to be suboptimal in a large range of operating ...

THE THOMPSON‐WATTS PLOTTER MODEL 2

The Photogrammetric Record, 1964
AbstractThis paper discusses the principal changes made to the Thompson‐ Watts plotter Model 1 as a result of experience gained with that instrument under test and in production. Some test results with the new instrument, Model 2, are given at the end of the paper.

Host-parasitoid dynamics of a generalized Thompson model

Journal of Mathematical Biology, 2006
A discrete-time host-parasitoid model including host-density dependence and a generalized Thompson escape function is analyzed. This model assumes that parasitoids are egg-limited but not search-limited, and is proven to exhibit five types of dynamics: host failure in which the host goes extinct in the parasitoid's presence or absence, unconditional ...

Modeling Laser Damage Thresholds Using the Thompson-Gerstman Model

2014
Abstract : As lasers become more pervasive, the dangers posed by laser radiation to the human retina have increased. Computer aided modeling of laser tissue interaction in the retina allows for researchers to simulate parameter ranges where exposure can cause damage.

Parameter sensitivity of the Thompson granular retinal damage model

SPIE Proceedings, 1998
As part of a research program to understand and model eye damage produced by exposure to cw and pulsed lasers, the U.S. Air Force has created a granular model of laser retinal damage. The Thompson granular model simulates absorption of light by melanosomes distributed in the retinal pigmented epithelium, melanosome heating, and subsequent photothermal ...

Model-Based Finite Population Correction for the Horvitz-Thompson Estimator

Biometrika, 1988
This paper discusses a model-based finite population correction term for estimating the model and design variances of the Horvitz-Thompson estimator under the usual model.

Ultrasonic measurement models - A tribute to R. Bruce Thompson

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2012
Over the years, R. Bruce Thompson made many significant contributions to the scientific foundation and engineering application of nondestructive evaluation, most notably in the area of ultrasonics. Of those contributions, perhaps none is more notable than what has come to be known as the Thompson-Gray Measurement Model. Born from humble beginnings as a
