Aortic Aneurysm with and without Dissection and Concomitant Atherosclerosis—Differences in a Retrospective Study

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
Background: Thoracic aortic aneurysm is a latent disease with a high risk of death. Today, as data are accumulating, an estimation of the differences in thoracic aneurysm in men and women of different age groups is required.

Secondary aortoesophageal fistula after thoracic endovascular aortic repair for a huge aneurysm

open access: yesDiagnostic and Interventional Radiology, 2013
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair for a descending thoracic aortic aneurysm is an excellent alternative to open surgery, especially in patients with a number of comorbidities.

Gene knockdown of angiopoietin-like protein 3 reduces the occurrence and development of thoracic aortic aneurysms [PDF]

open access: yesJichu yixue yu linchuang, 2021
Objective To explore the role of angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) in the development of thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) and its possible mechanism. Methods The TAA patients who underwent open surgical repair in Beijing Anzhen Hospital were selected

ROBO4 Variants Predispose Individuals to Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm

open access: yesNature Genetics, 2018
Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is a common congenital heart defect (population incidence, 1–2%)1–3 that frequently presents with ascending aortic aneurysm (AscAA)4.

Thoracic and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2005
Aneurysms of the aorta are at times evaluated and treated by physicians from a number of specialties. Indeed, whereas cardiac surgeons operate on the ascending aorta and arch and vascular surgeons manage abdominal aortic aneurysms, at present the responsibility often falls to cardiologists to oversee the medical care of patients with aortic disease of ...

Reversal of Stress‐Induced PIEZO1 Elevation with Mechanically Adapted Epicardial Patch for Myocardial Infarction Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work identifies fine‐tuning the expression of PIEZO1 as a critical molecular mechanism underlying the treatment of myocardial infarction by mechanically adapted cardiac patches, which can support the clinical translation of cardiac patch devices.

Natural history of thoracic aortic aneurysms [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 2012
Understanding the natural history of thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAAs) is essential to patient care and surgical decision making. In this evidence summary we discuss some of the most clinically relevant features of the disease. The true incidence of TAAs is likely to be higher than currently reported because of the inherently silent nature of TAAs ...

CCDC80 Protects against Aortic Dissection and Rupture by Maintaining the Contractile Smooth Muscle Cell Phenotype

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aortic dissection (AD) is accompanied by a decrease in CCDC80 in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). CCDC80 can interact with JAK2, and VSMC‐specific CCDC80 deficiency accelerates the progression of AD by activating the JAK2/STAT3 pathway involved in regulating the phenotype switching and function of VSMCs.

Endovascular Stent Grafting for Aortic Arch Aneurysm in Aortoiliac Occlusive Disease following Aortic Arch Debranching and Aortobifemoral Reconstruction

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2017
Treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms constitutes high mortality and morbidity rates despite improvements in surgery, anesthesia, and technology. Endovascular stent grafting may be an alternative therapy with lower risks when compared with conventional ...

Existing and Emerging Approaches to Risk Assessment in Patients with Ascending Thoracic Aortic Dilatation

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2022
Ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm is a life-threatening disease, which is difficult to detect prior to the occurrence of a catastrophe. Epidemiology patterns of ascending thoracic aortic dilations/aneurysms remain understudied, whereas the risk ...
