Trunk muscle activity is modified in osteoporotic vertebral fracture and thoracic kyphosis with potential consequences for vertebral health. [PDF]
This study explored inter-relationships between vertebral fracture, thoracic kyphosis and trunk muscle control in elderly people with osteoporosis. Osteoporotic vertebral fractures are associated with increased risk of further vertebral fractures; but ...

Surface stereophotogrammetry of thoracic kyphosis.
The thoracic kyphosis angles of 16 normal individuals, 10 patients with Scheuermann's disease and 11 with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis were measured both radiographically and from Integrated Shape Imaging System (ISIS) scans obtained by surface ...

The effect of thoracic kyphosis and sagittal plane alignment on vertebral compressive loading [PDF]
To better understand the biomechanical mechanisms underlying the association between hyperkyphosis of the thoracic spine and risk of vertebral fracture and other degenerative spinal pathology, we used a previously validated musculoskeletal model of the ...

ABSTRACT Detailed clinical phenotypes have been previously reported for 33 individuals with X‐linked HNRNPH2‐related neurodevelopmental disorder. Of these, 75% self‐reported a musculoskeletal abnormality, including hip dysplasia, scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis, pes planus, arthritis, and missing spinous processes.

Spine’s Sagittal Plane Curves’ Coherence with Anthropometric Parameters in Schoolchildren
The aim of this study — to identify how anthropometric measurements are connected with spine sagittal curves in schoolchildren. Anthropometric and sagittal body posture measurements were performed for 405 schoolchildren, age range 10—13 years.

Human evolution and the obstetrical dilemma: The pelvic floor hypothesis
Abstract Human childbirth is mechanically difficult because a large‐headed, broad‐shouldered fetus must pass through a comparatively narrow, twisted bony birth canal. Traditional explanations of this “obstetrical dilemma” emphasize the role of bipedal locomotion in inhibiting the evolution of a wider, more spacious pelvis.

ABSTRACT The azygos vein (AV) is typically described as ascending vertically to the right of the vertebral column before arching anteriorly to drain into the superior vena cava. However, a small number of studies suggest that it is found leftward in older adults.
