Evaluation of a chest wall lift technique in feline cadaveric specimens

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, Volume 54, Issue 8, Page 1599-1607, November 2025.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the effect of a simple chest wall‐lifting technique on thoracic volumes in cats. Study design Cadaveric study. Animals Feline cadavers (n = 8). Methods Animals underwent thoracic computed tomography (CT) scans after each treatment: in lateral recumbency, (1) no lift and (2) intercostal space lift, and in dorsal recumbency,

Thoracoscopic Transmyocardial Laser Revascularization [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1998
Transmyocardial laser revascularization has been used to treat patients with end-stage coronary artery disease and severe disabling angina. Typically, the operative approach is through a left anterior thoracotomy. I report a case of transmyocardial laser revascularization performed thoracoscopically.

Unveiling Macrophage Content as a Predictive Biomarker for Intraoperative ICG Imaging Efficacy in Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 39, October 20, 2025.
Indocyanine Green (ICG)‐guided lung cancer surgery efficacy varies significantly among patients. This study identifies tumor macrophage content as a predictive biomarker. Macrophages are primary ICG reservoirs, storing seven‐fold more ICG than cancer cells.

Survival Effectiveness of Uniport Anatomic Resections in Patients With Clinical Stage I Lung Cancer: An Observation Cohort Study

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 19, October 2025.
Uniportal VATS segmentectomy and lobectomy yielded similar long‐term survival in stage I NSCLC. Segmentectomy offered faster recovery but fewer N1 nodes. Recurrence was local in stage IA and distant in higher stages, emphasizing stage‐specific surveillance. CTR > 0.5 and stage ≥ IB predicted recurrence.

Cadaveric evaluation of bronchial blockade using the Coda vascular catheter placed under Borescope guidance

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, Volume 54, Issue 7, Page 1387-1396, October 2025.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the feasibility of achieving bronchial blockade using a vascular balloon catheter under low‐cost semi‐flexible borescope guidance in dogs. Study design Cadaveric pilot study. Sample population Canine cadavers (n = 7) weighing between 12.2 and 63 kg.

Asymptomatic Esophageal Carcinosarcoma Diagnosed Based on Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection Results: A Case Report

open access: yesJGH Open, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Esophageal carcinosarcoma is a rare type of esophageal cancer with a characteristic sausage shape that is often detected at an early stage; therefore, the depth of invasion is often submucosal. However, many cases of esophageal carcinosarcoma demonstrate lymphatic metastases, which require surgery.

Cardiac Organoid Model Inspired Micro‐Robot Smart Patch to Treat Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 26, July 3, 2025.
The heart organoid model exhibits the acidic microenvironment characteristic of myocardial infarction, which emerges as a pivotal force propelling the movement of micro‐robots. These micro‐robots, administered through microneedles, can penetrate deep into the tissue, effectively delivering therapeutic payloads to facilitate heart repair.

A Case of Pericostal Tuberculosis Discovered Incidentally on an Abdominal MRI

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2025.
A mobile pleural mass on an MRI was incidentally detected in a 45‐year‐old woman. Thoracoscopic resection revealed pericostal tuberculosis with PCR‐positive Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This rare case emphasizes considering pericostal tuberculosis in the differential diagnosis of pleural tumors if there are suspicious MRI features.
