Neoadjuvant Glucocorticoids Facilitate Resection in Advanced B‐Type Thymomas: A Propensity‐Matched Analysis of Surgical and Survival Outcomes

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 1, January 2026.
Neoadjuvant glucocorticoids facilitated less invasive and more complete resection of advanced B‐type thymomas, leading to reduced operative morbidity and improved progression‐free survival compared to upfront surgery. This study supports a novel downstaging strategy for this challenging disease.

Non-intubated uniportal subxiphoid thoracoscopic extended thymectomy for thymoma associated with myasthenia gravis

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2021
Background To describe a technique of non-intubated uniportal subxiphoid thoracoscopic extended thymectomy. Methods Data were collected retrospectively. A single 3-cm transverse incision was made below the xiphoid process.

Endoscopic Ultrasound–Guided Diagnosis of Mediastinal Ectopic Thyroid in a High‐Risk Elderly Male

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Ectopic thyroid tissue (ETT) is a rare condition that predominantly affects women, often during periods of hormonal stimulation. Mediastinal involvement is even more uncommon. We present a case of ETT in a male patient with atypical demographics and a history of renal cell carcinoma, presenting as a large mediastinal mass measuring 6.0 × 4.6 × 4.5 cm ...

Non-intubated Uniportal Subxiphoid Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery for Extended Thymectomy in Myasthenia Gravis Patients: A Case Series

open access: yesJournal of Chest Surgery, 2022
Minimally invasive strategies are increasingly popular in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG)-associated thymomas. Within the context of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) as a widely known minimally invasive option, the most recent ...

The Use of Parabulbar and Sub‐Tenon Injections to Correct Isolated Resistant Diplopia in Patients With Generalized Myasthenia Gravis: A Long Road to Clinically Meaningful Success

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
Changes in ocular alignment following parabulbar betamethasone in myasthenia gravis. Paired images obtained before and after parabulbar betamethasone (0.5 mL per eye; April 22 and May 6, 2025) demonstrate improved horizontal alignment and reduction of vertical deviations in primary gaze, upgaze, right gaze, and left gaze.

Clinical Evaluation of T Component in the Ninth Edition TNM Classification of Thymic Epithelial Tumors

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 22, November 2025.
The ninth edition TNM system shows improved prognostic accuracy for RFS in thymic epithelial tumors, particularly in T1b versus T1a patients. The ninth edition outperforms the eighth in model fit and predictive power for both RFS and OS. ABSTRACT Objectives The optimal staging system for thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) remains controversial. This study

Minimally invasive resection of thymomas with the da Vinci® Surgical System† [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
OBJECTIVES The resection of thymic tumours requires completeness and may be technically challenging due to the anatomical proximity of the delicate mediastinal structures.

Comparison of Subxiphoid and Lateral Intercostal Thoracoscopic Surgery for Anterior Mediastinal Tumors: A Propensity Score‐Matched Analysis

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 22, November 2025.
In a matched study of 417 patients per group, LIATS for anterior mediastinal tumors resection had a significantly shorter operative time than SATS (75 ± 34 vs. 112 ± 43 min; p < 0.001), with no difference in postoperative pain. ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to evaluate the short‐term clinical outcomes of subxiphoid approach thoracoscopic surgery (
