New Applications in Gas Geochemistry
Gases present in the Earth crust are important in various branches of human activities. Hydrocarbons are a significant energy resource, helium is applied in many high‐tech instruments, and studies of crustal gas dynamics provide insight in the geodynamic processes and help monitor seismic and volcanic hazards.

This study investigated the effects of dwelling type, wall and floor coverings, radium‐226 concentration, soil moisture, and radon exhalation on indoor radon‐222 levels in the gold‐mining community of Akyempim, Ghana. Indoor radon was monitored using CR‐39 solid‐state nuclear track detectors deployed in 144 rooms across 21 sites for 90 days ...

Exposure to radon‐222 (222Rn) and its decay products poses a significant public health risk. 222Rn tends to accumulate in poorly ventilated areas, underground spaces, and caves, which justifies the existence of international reference levels for its annual average indoor concentrations.

Simultaneous Measurements of Radon and Thoron Exhalation Rates and Comparison with Values Calculated by UNSCEAR Equation [PDF]
We simultaneously measured radon and thoron exhalation rates in areas of weathered acid rocks in Japan to investigate the relationship between them and between measured and calculated radon exhalation rates. To calculate the radon exhalation rate, we used an equation proposed by UNSCEAR.

Exploring Seasonal Variation of Indoor Radon in Campania: Preliminary Findings
This study focuses on the indoor radon gas monitoring in 30 residences in Campania to evaluate seasonal variability. Approximately 570 CR‐39 solid‐state detectors were employed. Measurements were taken monthly, quarterly, semiannually, and annually, starting in October 2022 and ending in September 2023.

The natural radioactivity level has been determined in a pilot site located at Solhan, in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso by means of gamma‐ray spectrometry in soil samples collected at a depth of 40 cm. The activity concentrations are estimated for 238U (range from 181.89 ± 3.62 to 191.37 ± 3.71 Bq·kg−1), 232Th (range from 44.92 ± 2.96 to 48.40 ± 3 ...

Exploring atmospheric exchange with natural tracers [PDF]
This study is focused on the application of radon (222Rn; half life time of 3.82 days) as an atmospheric tracer for evaluating the exchange of trace compounds between the land surface and the atmosphere and for understanding atmospheric mixing processes.
