The analysis of cranial and facial fractures in skeletal remains of homicidal victims can prove challenging for forensic anthropologists and forensic pathologists in postmortem examination. In such cases, the use of 3-D computerized imaging to elucidate the fractures and patterns of injuries can provide strong medical evidence that is very useful ...

Using three-dimensional rotational X-ray angiography (3DRA), three-dimensional (3-D) information of the vasculature can be obtained prior to endovascular interventions. However, during interventions, the radiologist has to rely on fluoroscopy images to manipulate the guide wire.

Smoothed Lv Distribution based Three-dimensional Imaging for Spinning Space Debris
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2022Three-dimensional (3-D) imaging plays a vital role in the recognition of spinning space debris. However, the image may be blurred due to the range migration caused by fast rotation of space debris.

Generation of three-dimensional integral images from a holographic pattern of 3-D objects
Applied Optics, 2008We present a novel approach for generating three-dimensional (3-D) integral images from a fringe pattern of 3-D objects. A recorded hologram of 3-D objects is segmented into a number of subholograms. Then, different views of 3-D objects are reconstructed from them because each subhologram has its own perspective of 3-D objects in the recording process.

Three-dimensional electronic unpacking of packed bags using 3-D CT images
SPIE Proceedings, 2009We present a 3-D electronic unpacking technique for airport security images based on volume rendering techniques developed for medical applications. Two electronic unpacking techniques are presented: (1) object-based unpacking and (2) unpacking by bag-slicing.

Three-dimensional analysis of alveolar bone resorption by image processing of 3-D dental CT images
SPIE Proceedings, 2006We have developed a novel system that provides total support for assessment of alveolar bone resorption, caused by periodontitis, based on three-dimensional (3-D) dental CT images. In spite of the difficulty in perceiving the complex 3-D shape of resorption, dentists assessing resorption location and severity have been relying on two-dimensional ...
