Pretreatment EBV‐DNA/TLG‐Based Risk Stratification Is Associated With Survival Outcomes in Nonmetastatic Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: An Exploratory Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Whether combining pretreatment plasma Epstein–Barr virus DNA (EBV‐DNA) with 18F‐FDG PET/CT‐derived total lesion glycolysis (TLG) improves prognostic stratification in nonmetastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is unclear, particularly in nonendemic populations.

Application of conformal map theory for design of 2-D ultrasonic array structure for ndt imaging application : a feasibility study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Two-dimensional ultrasonic phased arrays are becoming increasingly popular in nondestructive evaluation (NDE). Sparse array element configurations are required to fully exploit the potential benefits of 2-D phased arrays. This paper applies the conformal

Zinc oxide/polydimethylsiloxane‐coated carbon fiber yarns for machine‐learning‐assisted gait classification

open access: yesInfoScience, EarlyView.
Gait analysis can provide valuable information for identifying changes in movement associated with neurological disorders, thus serving as an important support tool in several areas, including healthcare and rehabilitation. In this study, zinc oxide/polydimethylsiloxane (ZnO/PDMS)‐coated carbon fiber yarns were developed and evaluated as pressure ...

Wearable photovoltaic textiles: From device technologies to long‐term reliability

open access: yesInfoScience, EarlyView.
Wearable photovoltaic textiles are highlighted as reliable energy sources that combine solar cell efficiency with hierarchical textile‐specific mechanical and environmental durability. Structural and encapsulation strategies, including planarization, neutral‐axis engineering, and advanced barrier designs, enable waterproofing, washability, UV shielding,

Dosimetric comparison between three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy versus intensity-modulated radiation therapy in non-metastatic esophageal carcinoma patients receiving definitive radiation with concurrent chemotherapy

open access: yesBasic & Clinical Cancer Research
Background: Esophageal cancer, a highly aggressive and often fatal gastrointestinal disease, frequently reaches advanced unresectable stages. The standard treatment involves definitive chemoradiation due to concerns about regional failure.

Hypervision Proton Surgery: The Future Direction of Proton Therapy

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Proton beams provide unique physical advantages characterized by a low entrance dose, negligible exit dose, and a sharp Bragg peak, which enable superior sparing of normal tissues and support safe dose escalation for improved tumor control. However, conventional photon‐based fractionation remains widely used in proton therapy, where prolonged ...

3D Printing a Clinically Available Solution From Plaster‐Based Positives in Superficial Radiation Therapy

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study compares two techniques for creating lead shielding masks to replace the current process for superficial/orthovoltage facial radiotherapy: Plaster Cast Positive Mould (PCPM), CT Scanned 3D Print (CT3DP), and Optical Scan 3D Print (OS3DP). CT3DP was found to be more accurate and preferred over OS3DP.

StrataXRT Versus Mepitel Film for Prevention of Acute Radiation Dermatitis in Postmastectomy Radiotherapy: A Pooled Analysis of Intra‐Patient Randomised Trials

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
In 120 patients receiving postmastectomy radiotherapy, each irradiated chest wall was divided into medial and lateral halves, which were randomised to Mepitel Film or StrataXRT. Mepitel Film reduced grade 2–3 acute radiation dermatitis and clinician‐assessed erythema and moist desquamation over time.
