SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights from a large international sicca registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Purpose The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögrens International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods Retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0‐4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0‐3) as predictors of DED signs [abnormal ocular surface staining ...

Implementation of Virtual Crack Closure Technique for Damaged Composite Plates Using Higher-Order Layerwise Model

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
A higher-order layerwise model is proposed to determine stress intensity factors using virtual crack closure technique for single-edge-crack aluminum plates with patch repairs.

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Principal Components of Superhigh-Dimensional Statistical Features and Support Vector Machine for Improving Identification Accuracies of Different Gear Crack Levels under Different Working Conditions

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2015
Gears are widely used in gearbox to transmit power from one shaft to another. Gear crack is one of the most frequent gear fault modes found in industry.

Mixed mode stress intensity factors for semielliptical surface cracks [PDF]

open access: yes
The three-dimensional equations of elasticity are solved for a flat elliptical crack which has nonuniform shear stresses applied to its surfaces. An alternating method is used to determine the mode two and mode three stress intensity factors for a ...

Study of three-dimensional crack fronts under plane stress using a phase field model

open access: yes, 2010
The shape of a crack front propagating through a thin sample is studied using a phase field model. The model is shown to have a well defined sharp interface limit.

Stability of quasi-static crack evolution through dimensional reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
International audienceThis paper deals with quasi-static crack growth in thin films. We show that, when the thickness of the film tends to zero, any three-dimensional quasi-static crack evolution converges to a two-dimensional one, in a sense related to ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.
