5D Flow MRI Reveals Respiration‐Driven Changes in Blood Flow Energetics in Congenital Heart Disease
ABSTRACT Purpose Hemodynamic monitoring is essential for patients with right‐sided congenital heart disease (CHD). Respiration may have an increased impact on pulmonary flow in these patients that cannot be assessed by standard tools including 4D flow MRI. This study uses 5D flow MRI to assess respiratory‐cycle variations in flow energetics in patients

The combination of cardiac resynchronization therapy and pulmonary artery banding was associated with substantial improvement in advanced heart failure infants with left ventricular dilated cardiomyopathy and left bundle branch block. Most patients exhibited marked improvement in clinical status and ventricular function, along with a reduction in QRS ...

Three-dimensional echocardiography in ischemic heart disease
The ability of two-dimensional echocardiography to detect and to evaluate the extent of wall motion abnormalities is limited by the use of few selected, nonparallel, views of the whole left ventricle, This leads to an incomplete appreciation of the ...

How to facilitate ultrasound examination of the fetal heart: the 5‐4‐3‐2‐1 method
ABSTRACT We propose a new standardized, systematic method of fetal cardiac screening, the step‐by‐step ‘5‐4‐3‐2‐1’ method. This method is based on understanding the cardiac structures through a process of navigating between the different recommended views during an abdominothoracic sweep, following a user‐friendly checklist to identify the main ...

Three-dimensional echocardiography in coronary artery disease [PDF]
Two-dimensional echocardiography has proven to be a very useful tool in the evaluation of global and regional left ventricular function in patients with coronary artcry disease.

Feasibility of pulmonary valve imaging using three-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography
Background: The pulmonary valve (PV) is rarely visualized in short axis with conventional two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Thus, the true incidence of abnormal PV morphology in patients undergoing TTE is unknown. This study sought to

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.
