Abstract Anisotropic polymeric matrix composite discs supported on three points were subjected to a non-destructive bending test to study their behaviour in complex flexural loading situations. The results show that the flexural behaviour of the composites depends on several factors, such as fibre orientation, laminate stacking, surface waviness and ...

Displacements and strains are very important for material evaluation as critical factors to a machine`s life cycle and safety. Typically, the strain gauge has been employed to measure displacement and strain. However, this contact-type measurement method has disadvantages that are not quantified under the test conditions of a specific object shape ...

On the difference between flexural moduli obtained by three-point and four-point bending tests
It has been experimentally seen that flexural moduli obtained by three-point and four-point bending tests are different for the same specimen. The slope of the load-displacement curve increases as load increases in both tests, showing an apparent stiffening of the specimen.

Evaluating the Flexural Strength of Different Timbers Using the Three-Point Bending Test
The present investigation was carried out to determine the mechanical properties of various types of timber. This study provides information for selection criteria of timber to make a different component of agriculture implement and tools. The Flexural Strength of Yellow Teak, Red cedar, North Indian rose timber, Lebbeck, Java plum, Margosa, Eucalyptus,

Research on differences and correlation between tensile, compression and flexural moduli of cement stabilized macadam [PDF]
In order to reveal the differences and conversion relations between the tensile, compressive and flexural moduli of cement stabilized macadam, in this paper, we develop a new test method for measuring three moduli simultaneously.

Herein, the mechanical properties of an auto-polymerizing resin incorporated with a surface pre-reacted glass ionomer (S-PRG) filler were evaluated. For this, S-PRG fillers with particle sizes of 1 μm (S-PRG-1) and 3 μm (S-PRG-3) were mixed at 10, 20, 30,

The Effect on the Flexural Strength, Flexural Modulus and Compressive Strength of Fibre Reinforced Acrylic with That of Plain Unfilled Acrylic Resin – An in Vitro Study [PDF]
Aim: The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the flexural strength, the flexural modulus and compressive strength of the acrylic polymer reinforced with glass, carbon, polyethylene and Kevlar fibres with that of plain unfilled resin.
