Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Implementation of swampy forest system for acid mine drainage treatment to meet threshold value [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Coal mining with the area of the potential acid-forming category can generate acid mine drainage. Acid mine drainage (AMD) that has been formed must be appropriately managed.

Implementation of threshold- and memory-switching memristors based on electrochemical metallization in an identical ferroelectric electrolyte

open access: yesNPG Asia Materials, 2023
The use of an identical electrolyte in electrochemical metallization (ECM)-based neuron and synaptic devices has not yet been achieved due to their different resistive-switching characteristics.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Ultracold Metastable Calcium Ensembles, a Medium for Matter Wave Amplification ? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We propose an experimental implementation of matter wave amplification by optical pumping (MAO) with metastable calcium atoms. First experimental results indicate that pumping rates can be significantly higher than in previous experimental schemes and ...

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

MS-LW-TI: Primitive-Based First-Order Threshold Implementation for 4 × 4 S-boxes

open access: yesIET Information Security
Threshold implementation (TI) is a lightweight countermeasure against side-channel attacks when glitches happen. As to masking schemes, an S-box is the key part to protection.

The Iterative Signature Algorithm for the analysis of large scale gene expression data

open access: yes, 2002
We present a new approach for the analysis of genome-wide expression data. Our method is designed to overcome the limitations of traditional techniques, when applied to large-scale data.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The evolution and adoption of World Health Organization policy guidelines on antiretroviral therapy initiation in sub-Saharan Africa: A scoping review

open access: yesSouthern African Journal of HIV Medicine, 2020
Background: Despite past and present global interventions, the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) pandemic remains a public health problem in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
