O enfoque da metrologia química em análises toxicológicas na atividade turfística: validação de método analítico para determinação de cafeína em matrizes biológicas The chemical metrology approach for toxicological analysis in horseracing: validation of an analytical method for the determination of caffeine in biological matrices

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2007
This paper proposes an alternate method to detect forbidden doping substances present in biological matrices of horseracing. The method was fully validated for caffeine, identified as the most frequent forbidden substance in the analysis conducted by the

Low-flow estimates in regions of extrapolation of the regionalization equations: a new concept [PDF]

open access: yesEngenharia Agrícola, 2015
Knowledge of natural water availability, which is characterized by low flows, is essential for planning and management of water resources. One of the most widely used hydrological techniques to determine streamflow is regionalization, but the ...

One-Bit Covariance Reconstruction with Non-zero Thresholds: Algorithm and Performance Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Covariance matrix reconstruction is a topic of great significance in the field of one-bit signal processing and has numerous practical applications. Despite its importance, the conventional arcsine law with zero threshold is incapable of recovering the diagonal elements of the covariance matrix.

Comparison of occupational exposure limits in China with threshold limit values announced by American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists

open access: yes环境与职业医学
BackgroundThe threshold limit values (TLVs) established and regularly updated by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) are widely adopted and referenced globally, serving as a crucial reference for China's occupational ...

Another look at threshold phenomena for random cones [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In stochastic geometry there are several instances of threshold phenomena in high dimensions: the behavior of a limit of some expectation changes abruptly when some parameter passes through a critical value. This note continues the investigation of the expected face numbers of polyhedral random cones, when the dimension of the ambient space increases ...

Estimation of the general threshold limit values for dust

open access: yesInternational Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 2003
In 1997 the German MAK Commission set new general threshold limit values for dust. The procedure has recently been assessed (McLaughlin et al. 2001). One of the points raised was the use of inappropriate statistical methods. We want to address this point to a greater extent by discussing several alternatives implied by the already established threshold

Sojourn Times and the Fragility Index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the sojourn time above a high threshold of a continuous stochastic process Y on [0,1]. It turns out that the limit, as the threshold increases, of the expected sojourn time given that it is positive, exists if the copula process corresponding to Y is in the functional domain of attraction of of an extreme value process.

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Comparison of Critical and Threshold Fluxes on Ultrafiltration and Nanofiltration by Treating 2-Phase or 3-Phase Olive Mill Wastewater

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2013
In this work, batch membrane processes in series composed by ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO) are used to purify the effluents exiting both the two-phase and tree-phase extraction processes.

The multiple roles of the NlpC_P60 peptidase family in mycobacteria – an underexplored target for antimicrobial drug discovery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.
