Hamiltonicity thresholds in Achlioptas processes [PDF]
In this paper we analyze the appearance of a Hamilton cycle in the following random process. The process starts with an empty graph on n labeled vertices. At each round we are presented with K=K(n) edges, chosen uniformly at random from the missing ones, and are asked to add one of them to the current graph.

Thresholds in the process of international financial integration [PDF]
Abstract The financial crisis has re-ignited the fierce debate about the merits of financial globalization and its implications for growth, especially for developing countries. The empirical literature has not been able to conclusively establish the presumed growth benefits of financial integration. Indeed, a new literature proposes that the indirect

Branching processes in random environments with thresholds
AbstractMotivated by applications to COVID dynamics, we describe a model of a branching process in a random environment $\{Z_n\}$ whose characteristics change when crossing upper and lower thresholds. This introduces a cyclical path behavior involving periods of increase and decrease leading to supercritical and subcritical regimes.

The influence of a transport process on the epidemic threshold
AbstractBy generating transient encounters between individuals beyond their immediate social environment, transport can have a profound impact on the spreading of an epidemic. In this work, we consider epidemic dynamics in the presence of the transport process that gives rise to a multiplex network model.

Thresholds of ultraperipheral processes [PDF]
Threshold behavior of the cross-sections of ultraperipheral nuclear interactions is studied. Production of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] pairs as well as [Formula: see text] and parapositronium is treated. The values of corresponding energy thresholds are presented and the total cross-sections of these processes at the newly constructed ...

A Galton–Watson process with a threshold
Abstract In this paper we study a special class of size dependent branching processes. We assume that for some positive integer K as long as the population size does not exceed level K, the process evolves as a discrete-time supercritical branching process, and when the population size exceeds level K, it evolves as a subcritical or critical branching ...

Sharp thresholds in adaptive random graph processes
AbstractThe ‐process is a single player game in which the player is initially presented the empty graph on vertices. In each step, a subset of edges is independently sampled according to a distribution . The player then selects one edge from , and adds to its current graph.

On identification of the threshold diffusion processes [PDF]
We consider the problems of parameter estimation for several models of threshold ergodic diffusion processes in the asymptotics of large samples. These models are the direct continuous time analogues of the well-known in time series analysis threshold autoregressive (TAR) models.

Threshold Values for Processing Distributed Queries [PDF]
A strategy to process a distributed query is formed using estimates of intermediate result sizes and delays due to network data transfer and CPU processing. Strategy execution is monitored, and corrected if observed parameter values differ substantially from their estimates.
