Threshold and the consultation process

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2021
Here I had the opportunity to take part in the Acoustical Society of America’s (ASA) Summer Undergraduate Research or Internship Experience in Acoustics (SURIEA) Program. The program was designed for underrepresented minority groups in order to introduce them to the field of acoustics.

A threshold mechanism for distributed query processing

Proceedings of the 1988 ACM sixteenth annual conference on Computer science - CSC '88, 1988
A strategy to process a distributed query is formed using estimates for partial results sizes and delays/costs associated with the network data transfer and CPU processing. To guard against inaccurate estimates the strategy execution is monitored and if estimates are observed to be “inaccurate” the strategy is corrected.

Assessment of thresholding algorithms for document processing

Proceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003
The thresholding technique used can critically affect the performance of subsequent operations such as page segmentation and character recognition. A taxonomy of thresholding methods has been proposed where the major categories are listed as entropy-based, histogram shape-based, object attribute-based, clustering based, adaptive, and object similarity ...

On threshold autoregressive processes

Kybernetika, 1984
This paper is a precise study of a so-called threshold autoregressive process. To get an idea of such a process think of a first order AR process where the coefficient has one value when the state is positive and another in the remaining case. For such a model the stationary distribution of the state as well as the correlation function is determined ...

The threshold contact process: a continuum limit

Probability Theory and Related Fields, 1996
In the threshold contact process on the \(d\)-dimensional integer lattice with range \(r\), healthy sites become infected at rate \(\lambda\) if they have at least one infected \(r\)-neighbour, and recover at rate 1. We show that the critical value \(\lambda_c (r)\) is asymptotic to \(r^{-d} \mu_c\) as \(r \to \infty\), where \(\mu_c\) is the critical ...

Thermite Initiation Processes and Thresholds

MRS Proceedings, 2012
ABSTRACTThe objectives of this work are to characterize thermite initiation processes and thresholds, and to develop thermite reactive trains, where a sensitive nanothermite ignites an insensitive micron thermite, which produces little gas. Nanothermites, including Al/AgIO3, Al/Bi2O3, Al/MoO3, Al/Fe3O4, and Ti/AgIO3, were characterized for their ...
