Learning processes in multilayer threshold nets
Biological Cybernetics, 1978An algorithm of learning in multilayer threshold nets without feedbacks is proposed. The net is built of threshold elements with binary inputs. During a learning process each input vector chi is accompanied by a teacher's decision omega (omega epsilon(1,...,M)).

Thresholding: A challenge for parallel processing
Computer Graphics and Image Processing, 1977In the past the speed and low cost of parallel computation for image processing have often been emphasized. To give a sample of the possibilities of parallel processing, a typical task is assessed : image thresholding. We describe the performance of a sequential computer and of an existing parallel machine implementing algorithms which match the ...

Threshold Effects of Inequality on the Process of Economic Growth [PDF]
This paper explores the relationship between inequality and growth in the context of a unified empirical approach suggested by the theoretical model of Galor and Moav (2004). Based on the model’s prediction, we construct a measure of human capital-to-physical capital ratio in order to investigate the threshold effects of inequality on economic growth ...

Hybrid and Dual-Processing Threshold Decision Models
2023In the previous chapters, we presented various derivations of the threshold model based on the same disease outcomes. We assumed that a decision-maker would calculate the threshold based on either mortality or morbidity outcomes. Basinga and van den Ende derived the threshold by combining both mortality and morbidity outcomes.

THRESHOLD CHOICE IN IMAGE PROCESSING
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011The present work proposes a simple procedure to evaluate the efficiency of a given image processing technique applied to weld radiographs. Specifically, special attention is given to the problem of how to evaluate whether or not a threshold value was suitably set in order to preserve relevant image features.

In-Process Detection of Chatter Threshold
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1988This investigation is an attempt to propose a method to determine the chatter threshold precisely so that a flexible manufacturing system can be materialized or a dynamic performance test criteria for a machine tool can be established. It has been found that the chatter threshold can be easily detected through the in-process measurement of the ...

Join processing with threshold-based filtering in MapReduce
The Journal of Supercomputing, 2014Data analytics, in particular those involving heterogeneous data, often require join operations on datasets collected from different sources. MapReduce, one of the most popular frameworks for large-scale data processing, is not suited for joining multiple datasets.

Threshold Laws for Processes of Autoionization
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1964An examination is made of some new data obtained by photon and electron impact, in an attempt to determine more accurately the threshold laws for processes of autoionization. In the cases of Kr and Xe, it is found that marked interference can occur between the two competing processes of direct and autoionization.

A weak propositional calculus for signal processing with thresholds
Proceedings of 24th International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic (ISMVL'94), 2002A weak propositional calculus is presented for signal processing with lower threshold z and upper threshold u. For this result all signals are scaled to lie within the linearly ordered real interval [0,1], with focus on the case 0 >
