Milli-spinner thrombectomy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Blockage of blood flow in arteries or veins by blood clots can lead to serious medical conditions. Mechanical thrombectomy (MT), minimally invasive endovascular procedures that utilize aspiration, stent retriever, or cutting mechanisms for clot removal have emerged as an effective treatment modality for ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, pulmonary

Updates in Mechanical Thrombectomy

open access: yes, 2016
Strokes are a major source of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The long-standing gold standard in stroke therapy, intravenous administration of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), is limited by strict timing parameters and modest efficacy in large strokes caused by thrombi in the proximal cerebral vasculature.

The Third Pillar of Precision Medicine — Precision Delivery

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
For Precision Medicine to reach its full potential, a third pillar called Precision Delivery is starting to evolve to complement the existing two pillars of Precision Diagnosis and Precision Therapy. Precision Delivery will help ensure the right therapy for the right disease will be able to reach the right location at the right time .

Posterior Circulation Mechanical Thrombectomy through Primitive Trigeminal Artery: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurology
Introduction: Primitive trigeminal artery (PTA) is a rare intracranial vascular malformation, and mechanical thrombectomy and revascularization via PTA are rarely reported. Case Presentation: We reported a case of mechanical thrombectomy through PTA in a

Dynamics of Ionic and Cytotoxic Edema During Acute and Subacute Stages of Patients With Ischemic Stroke: Complementarity of 23Na MRI and Diffusion MRI

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 38, Issue 5, May 2025.
Regions with ionic edema showed a non‐linear increase in 23Na signal during the first 70 h, with faster and larger sodium accumulations in regions progressing to necrosis at 3. Ionic edema imaging in the subacute phase of stroke may provide additional insights into tissue viability and delayed changes in sodium metabolism.

Self‐reported physical activity more than 1 year after stroke and its determinants in relation to the WHO recommendations

open access: yesPM&R, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 513-521, May 2025.
Abstract Background Physical activity (PA) after stroke has significant health benefits if it is conducted regularly, with sufficient intensity and duration. Because of the health benefits, it is important to identify those below the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended level of PA. However, few studies have assessed the level of PA after stroke
