Electronic Throttle Control for Motorcycles

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Gasoline engines use throttle valves to control the intake air flow and thereby power and torque output. Throttle valves in today's motorcycles are mechanical; they are linked to the accelerator hand grip by a throttle cable.

Constrained optimal control of an electronic throttle

International Journal of Control, 2006
The overall vehicle performance is strongly influenced by the quality of the control of the electronic throttle -- a DC motor driven valve that regulates the inflow of air to the vehicle's engine. Designing a controller for the throttle system is a challenging task since one has to cope with two strong nonlinearities: the gearbox friction and the so ...

Variable structure control of electronic throttle valve

IVEC2001. Proceedings of the IEEE International Vehicle Electronics Conference 2001. IVEC 2001 (Cat. No.01EX522), 2002
In recent years, the use of electronic throttle valve systems has been very popular in the automotive industry. However, there exist difficulties in controlling the electronic throttle valve because of multiple nonsmooth nonlinearities including stick-slip friction, backlash, and a discontinuous nonlinear spring involved in the system. To alleviate the

Throttle Valve Position Control System

IEEE Transactions on Industry and General Applications, 1965
A high-accuracy steam valve controller which uses a dc motor and gear train to position a steam valve shaft is described. The system responds to an error signal derived from the difference between an input reference and an output feedback signal. The error signal is amplified to control two firing pulse generators.

Self-tuning control of an electronic throttle

Proceedings of 2003 IEEE Conference on Control Applications, 2003. CCA 2003., 2004
A Self-tuning strategy for an electronic throttle servo-system is proposed in order to account for the variations of DC motor armature resistance, battery voltage, and limp-home position. Different self-tuning algorithms have been derived depending on the availability of armature current sensor and control strategy auto-tuning procedure.

Adaptive pulse control of electronic throttle

Proceedings of the 2001 American Control Conference. (Cat. No.01CH37148), 2001
Precise control of electronic throttle is critical to driveability, fuel economy and emission performance of present day passenger vehicles. Due to cost, material and packaging constraints, the throttle open-loop dynamics may be fairly complex, exhibiting substantial nonlinearities among which friction plays a prominent role.

THROTTLE CONTROL OF THE HYDRAULIC DRIVE BY MEANS OF A SEQUENTIAL THROTTLE

COLLECTION OF SCIENTIFIC PAPERS, 2023
The article is devoted to the problem of solving the problem of regulating the speed of the output link of the hydraulic drive by means of a sequential throttle with the discharge of the working fluid into the storage tank, bypassing the hydraulic motor.

Review of Throttle Controls

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1969
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The utility truck field requires many types of throttle controls, both remote and automatic, for the vehicle engine and auxiliary power source. This article reviews these applications from the aerial bucket truck used on overhead high voltage line work, to the underground equipment unit burying or reclaiming cable.&

Electronic Throttle Control Strategy Develop

2009
This paper researches on how to improve the ETB (Electronic Throttle Body) performance, as the emission requirement becomes more and more strict this core function’s performance becomes more and more important. We can get the command throttle position easy but there are many factors can affect the ETB intake air mass model in the real work environment,

LPV Control of an Electronic Throttle

Volume 1: Aerial Vehicles; Aerospace Control; Alternative Energy; Automotive Control Systems; Battery Systems; Beams and Flexible Structures; Biologically-Inspired Control and its Applications; Bio-Medical and Bio-Mechanical Systems; Biomedical Robots and Rehab; Bipeds and Locomotion; Control Design Methods for Adv. Powertrain Systems and Components; Control of Adv. Combustion Engines, Building Energy Systems, Mechanical Systems; Control, Monitoring, and Energy Harvesting of Vibratory Systems, 2013
In this paper, a discrete-time electronic throttle model was developed based upon the parameters obtained through system identification. To design gain-scheduling controllers using LPV (linear parameter varying) scheme, the throttle was modeled as an LPV system, where the vehicle battery voltage and the non-linear friction coefficient are the ...
