High‐intensity focused ultrasound: Safety and efficacy of a novel treatment modality for neurofibromatosis type 1 cutaneous neurofibroma

High‐intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) was applied to 147 cutaneous neurofibromas of 20 patients who had neurofibromatosis 1 syndrome. The treatment was well tolerated without anaesthesia. After a follow‐up of 9 months, 76% of tumours had decreased in size or completely disappeared.
