Soft-drop thrust [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
Abstract Soft drop, a technique originally developed in the context of jet physics in proton-proton collisions in order to reduce the contamination from non-perturbative effects, is applied to event shapes in electron-positron annihilation. In particular, we study the thrust distribution at the Z pole and show that the region where

Multiplicity with a thrust cut [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift fr Physik C Particles and Fields, 1994
We evaluate the multiplicity of hadrons in the $e^+e^-$-annihilation at a given thrust $T$ in the modified leading-log approximation, including $O(\sqrt{α_s})$ corrections. The calculation is done at a large value of $τ=1-T$ by the use of the factorisation which takes place in the one-particle-inclusive cross section at a given $τ$.

Studies on thrust characteristics of high‐thrust spiral motor

open access: yesElectrical Engineering in Japan, 2009
AbstractLinear actuators are used in various industrial applications. Conventional linear actuators are a combination of a rotational motor and a ball screw, a hydraulic actuator, or a linear motor. However, these actuators have some demerits. This paper proposes a spiral motor (SPRM) that comprises a helical stator and a helical mover.

Porosity and Compaction State at the Active Pāpaku Thrust Fault in the Frontal Accretionary Wedge of the North Hikurangi Margin

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2021
Characterization of the porosity evolution across the sedimentary section entering subduction zones and accreted sediments provide valuable information for understanding the deformation history at accretionary margins and the physico‐chemical processes ...

ASSIST: Refinement of a Benefits Navigator Intervention Among Low‐Income Pediatric Oncology Families

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Children with cancer living in poverty experience worse survival and quality of life. Interventions connecting low‐income families to benefits (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP] improve health outcomes; yet nearly 50% of SNAP‐eligible pediatric oncology families are unenrolled.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.
