Thrust ripple optimization and experiment for a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor
Frontiers of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in China, 2006Thrust ripple such as end force, slot force and normal force are key factors that affect the properties of permanent magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSM). According to different mechanics and analytical models, end force resulting from open magnetic circuit of PMLSM was greatly decreased by optimizing the length of the PMLSM mover.

Design of thrust ripple minimization by equivalent magnetizing current considering slot effect
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2006This paper proposes the maximum thrust design of slotted permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) using equivalent magnetizing current method (EMCM) considering slot effect. The genetic algorithm is used for optimization. The objective functions are selected for the maximum thrust and the minimum detent force.

Analysis of thrust ripple of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor with skewed PMs
2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015The thrust ripple of Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) at load can reach 10% average thrust, which deteriorates thrust performance. To reduce the thrust ripple, two methods of optimizing the primary length and skewing are widely adopted during PMLSM design. In this paper, the effect of skewing technology is investigated.
