Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Investigating the neutralizer cathode location in the SPT type Hall Effect thruster [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم، فناوری و کاربردهای فضایی
The position of the cathode concerning the magnetic field map inside the discharge channel affects the performance and lifetime of the Hall effect thruster. The neutralizer cathode has two important functions in the Hall effect thruster.

Enhancement for magnetic field strength of a magnetohydrodynamic thruster consisting of permanent magnets

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
This study designs a closed-loop magnetic circuit using permeable materials to increase the uniformity and intensity of the magnetic field based on an internal conductive square Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) thruster that consists of a pair of NdFeB magnets.

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Plasma Thruster with Diffusion Control Using Real-Time Simulations with Observer Structure and Ionising Radiation Caused by Electrodynamic Effects in the Accelerator Chamber

open access: yesHavacılık ve Uzay Teknolojileri Dergisi, 2020
The script in this paper describes the use of propellant for plasma thrusters based on electrostatic accelerator. The generation and control of plasma is essential for the ion thrusters.

Some Problems of Berthing of Ships with Non-conventional Propulsions [PDF]

open access: yesTransNav, 2007
The berthing manoeuvre of ship is the last stage of navigation process. The safety of berthing depends on velocity due impact the quay. In case of ships with non-conventional propulsion (mainly two stern screws and few thrust propellers) the berthing ...

Liquid micro pulsed plasma thruster

open access: yesNukleonika, 2015
A new type of pulsed plasma thruster (PPT) for small satellite propulsion is investigated, of which the most innovative aspect is the use of a non-volatile liquid propellant. The thruster is based on an open capillary design.

Local optimization of thruster configuration based on a synthesized positioning capability criterion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
DPCap analysis can assist in determining the maximum environmental forces the DP system can counteract for a given heading. DPCap analysis results are highly affected by the thrust forces provided by the thrust system which consists of several kinds of ...

Evaluation of Plasticity and Creep Parameters From Tensile Stress–Strain Data for a Range of Strain Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...
