A 0.82 μm, 105 W diode-pumped thulium-doped all-silica-fiber laser
An all-silica-fiber thulium-doped fiber laser emitting at 0.82 μm on the transition from 3H4 to the ground state 3H6 outputs 105 W continuous-wave power and 555 W quasi-continuous-wave instantaneous power with 0.96% duty cycle in 240 μs rectangular ...

Simulation of Optical Fiber Amplifier Gain Using Equivalent Short Fibers
Electromagnetic wave propagation in optical fiber amplifiers obeys Maxwell equations. Using coupled mode theory, the full Maxwell system within an optical fiber amplifier is reduced to a simpler model.

Wideband saturable absorption in few-layer molybdenum diselenide (MoSe₂) for Q-switching Yb-, Er- and Tm-doped fiber lasers. [PDF]
We fabricate a free-standing molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2) saturable absorber by embedding liquid-phase exfoliated few-layer MoSe2 flakes into a polymer film.

Fiber-Coupled Multiplexed Independent Ho:ZBLAN Waveguide Chip Lasers in a Single Substrate
A readily configurable and scalable 2 µm laser source with multi-channel/wavelength fiber output could be advantageous to 2 µm applications such as spectral-beam combination or fiber communications.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Ytterbium-Codoping in Thulium Doped Silica Fiber
A novel ytterbium-thulium codoping scheme is presented taking advantage of the fact that ytterbium codoping in thulium could facilitate population inversion between the relevant energy levels, through a cross energy transfer process between Tm3+ and Yb3+.

Passively Modelocked All-PM Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser at 2.07
Here we present a self-started passively mode-locked thulium-doped fiber laser with in-band pumping at 1561 nm that fully retains polarization and emits beyond 2 μm.

This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Ultrafast thulium-doped fiber laser mode-locked by antimonides
We report, for the first time, the nonlinear absorption at the 2 µm waveband of three Sb-related materials including two Sb compounds, GaSb and InSb, and one Sb alloy, Ge8Sb92. These saturable absorbers (SAs) were coated on tapered single mode fibers by the magnetron-sputtering deposition method.
