Gain dynamics in thulium-doped fiber amplifiers

open access: yesOptics Express
Understanding the gain dynamics of amplification in rare-earth-doped silica glass fibers is crucial for developing sophisticated low-noise amplifiers and frequency combs. Recent and ongoing research efforts in these areas have specifically targeted the spectral region around 2 µm and the use of thulium-doped silica glass fibers as a broadband, power ...

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

The Dynamics of Multi-Peak Pulsed Generation in a Q-Switched Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
We demonstrate a detailed theoretical and experimental study of a thulium-doped fiber laser being Q-switched by means of an acousto-optic modulator. The processes leading to the generation of discontinuous multi-peak pulses with an energy of up to 5 μJ ...
