Preparation and characterization of highly thulium- and alumina-doped optical fibers for single-frequency fiber lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Thulium-doped fibers suitable for core-pumped single-frequency lasers were fabricated by the modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) method. Refractive index profile, doping profile and spectral absorption was measured.

High-Power Thulium-Doped All-Fiber Superfluorescent Source With Ultranarrow Linewidth

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
The narrow-band superfluorescent source is a promising optical source in various fields. We constructed a novel scheme for the narrow-band all-fiber thulium-doped superfluorescent source and demonstrated the power scaling based on multistage amplifiers ...

Thulium-doped Fiber Amplifier for Optical Communications at 2µm [PDF]

open access: yesOptical Fiber Communication Conference/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference 2013, 2013
We report the first experimental realization and detailed characterization of thulium doped fiber amplifiers (TDFAs) specifically designed for optical communications providing high gain (>35 dB), noise figure as low as 5 dB, and over 100 nm wide bandwidth around 2 µm. A maximum saturated output power of 1.2 W was achieved with a slope efficiency of 50%.

Telecom to mid-infrared spanning supercontinuum generation in hydrogenated amorphous silicon waveguides using a Thulium doped fiber laser pump source [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A 1000 nm wide supercontinuum, spanning from 1470 nm in the telecom band to 2470 nm in the mid-infrared is demonstrated in a 800 nm x 220 nm 1 cm long hydrogenated amorphous silicon strip waveguide.

Supercontinuum source directly from noise-like pulse emission in a Tm-doped all-fiber laser with nonlinear polarization rotation

open access: yesResults in Optics, 2021
Supercontinuum (SC) generation directly from noise-like pulse (NLP) emission is demonstrated in a mode-locked thulium-doped all-fiber laser with nonlinear polarization rotation.

Ultra-broadband wavelength-swept Tm-doped fiber laser using wavelength-combined gain stages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A wavelength-swept thulium-doped fiber laser system employing two parallel cavities with two different fiber gain stages is reported. The fiber gain stages were tailored to provide emission in complementary bands with external wavelength-dependent ...

Challenges of temperature-dependent emission spectra measurement of thulium-doped fibers around 2 µm [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Understanding temperature’s impact on spectroscopic properties in high-power thulium-doped fiber lasers is crucial for accurate numerical modeling. Our study discusses influence of thulium concentration and temperature-induced bend losses on emission ...

Optical Excitation of Nuclear Spin Coherence in Tm3+:YAG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A thulium-doped crystal is experimentally shown to be an excellent candidate for broadband quantum storage in a solid-state medium. For the first time, nuclear spin coherence is optically excited, detected and characterized in such a crystal.

Mid-infrared Spectral Intensity Enhanced Supercontinuum Generation Based on Nanosecond Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We report a mid-infrared (MIR) spectral intensity-enhanced supercontinuum (SC) generation from a ZrF4-BaF 2-LaF3-AlF3-NaF fiber pumped by a nanosecond thulium-doped fiber laser.
