Lifestyle Behaviors and Cardiotoxic Treatment Risks in Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Higher doses of anthracyclines and heart‐relevant radiotherapy increase cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. This study assessed CVD and CVD risk factors among adult childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) across cardiotoxic treatment risk groups and examined associations between lifestyle behaviors and treatment risks.

Traumatic Isolated Thumb Carpometacarpal Joint Dislocation - Report of Two Clinical Cases

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ortopedia, 2021
Isolated thumb carpometacarpal joint dislocation is a rare lesion that accounts for less than 1% of all hand lesions. The authors present two cases of traumatic isolated thumb carpometacarpal joint dislocation.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Thumbnail strain during pressing and plucking of a string

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2015
Human fingernails play an important role in daily life and while playing instruments. We previously showed that the strain generated at the radial and ulnar parts of the nail was asymmetric when the thumb pad was pressed down on a flat surface.

A qualitative study exploring clinicians’ views on clinical trials in thumb carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis

open access: yesBone & Joint Open, 2022
Aims Osteoarthritis (OA) affecting the thumb carpometacarpal joint (CMCJ) is a common painful condition. In this study, we aimed to explore clinicians’ approach to management with a particular focus on the role of specific interventions that will inform ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Cooperative activities of forearm muscles under loading applied to thumb or each finger

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2018
Human thumb and fingers are usually subjected to an external loading during daily activity. The information of how muscles in the forearm cooperate with each other in order to response to the external loading is still unknown.
