AbstractBlackfin tuna Thunnus atlanticus often inhabits warm waters of the western Atlantic Ocean from 40°N (Cape Cod, USA) to 22°S (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). We recorded the first catches of the species in southern Brazil (34°S) and described its new distribution and fishing grounds.

La pesquería de pequeños túnidos es una de las pocas que se realiza en aguas oceánicas en Cuba, principalmente en la región occidental. Las capturas están compuestas fundamentalmente por ejemplares de Katsuwonus pelamis (Linnaeus, 1758), bonito, y Thunnus atlanticus (Lesson, 1831), albacora.
