Thymectomy lowers the myasthenia gravis biomarker miR-150-5p

open access: yesNeurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation, 2018
Objective The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of thymectomy on the proposed disease-specific microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers miR-150-5p and miR-21-5p in patients from the prospective randomized trial of thymectomy in myasthenia gravis (MGTX trial)

Pulmonary Function Outcomes in Children Undergoing Diaphragmatic Plication After Phrenic Nerve Palsy Secondary to Cardiac Surgery: A 10‐Year Case Series

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
This 10‐year retrospective case series evaluated mid‐term pulmonary outcomes in children who underwent diaphragmatic plication for phrenic nerve palsy following cardiac surgery. The results reveal a restrictive ventilatory pattern and consistent post‐exercise oxygen desaturation, despite preserved functional walking capacity.

Perioperative Outcomes and Long-term Survival in Clinically Early-stage Thymic
Malignancies: Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Thymectomy versus Open Approaches

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2016
Background and objective Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) theoretically offers advantages over open thymectomy for clinically early-stage (Masaoka-Koga stage I and II) thymic malignancies. However, longterm outcomes have not been well studied.

Intravenous flurbiprofen for post-thymectomy pain relief in patients with myasthenia gravis

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2012
Background Post-thymectomy pain in myasthenia gravis (MG) patients can inhibit breathing and coughing. Inappropriate usage of analgesics may exacerbate respiratory inhibition and even cause myasthenic crisis.

Robot versus video-assisted thoracoscopic thymectomy for large thymic epithelial tumors: a propensity-matched analysis

open access: yesBMC Surgery, 2023
Background Both video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) thymectomy and robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) thymectomy have been suggested as technically sound approaches for early-stage thymic epithelial tumors. However, the choice of VATS or

IgG4‐Related Sclerosing Mediastinitis Mimicking Thymoma: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
This case highlights the diagnostic challenge of mediastinal IgG4‐RD and the importance of considering it in the differential diagnosis of thymic tumours, even when serum IgG4 is normal. ABSTRACT IgG4‐related disease (IgG4‐RD) rarely presents as an anterior mediastinal mass and may radiologically resemble thymic neoplasms.
