THE THYMUS GLAND (THYMUS) ASPECTS IN CHILDREN (PART I)

open access: yesМать и дитя в Кузбассе, 2020
The thymus gland (thymus) is a huge mystery of biology, medicine (primarily immunology) and, in particular, pediatrics. Despite the fact that it has been calling attention of researchers for over 4 centuries.

COMPARATIVE MORPHOLOGICAL STUDY OF QUANTITATIVE RATIOS OF LYMPHOCYTES AT DIFFERENT MATURITY STAGES IN THYMUS OF IMMATURE VERTEBRATES

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2017
The main function of thymus, a central organ of lymphoid system, is to form a pool of immunocompetent autotolerant thymocytes. The process of lymphocyte differentiation within thymus largely depends on organization level of the vertebral animal and its ...

A novel reconstruction technique of a tracheal defect in the emergent setting using a thymus flap in a patient with tracheoinnominate artery fistula

open access: yesSurgical Case Reports, 2020
Background There is a very high mortality associated with a tracheoinnominate artery fistula; however, when patients survive, they often require reconstruction of the eroded tracheal defect after the bleeding has been controlled.

Breaking tolerance in transgenic mice expressing the human TSH receptor A-subunit: thyroiditis, epitope spreading and adjuvant as a 'double edged sword'. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Transgenic mice with the human thyrotropin-receptor (TSHR) A-subunit targeted to the thyroid are tolerant of the transgene. In transgenics that express low A-subunit levels (Lo-expressors), regulatory T cell (Treg) depletion using anti-CD25 before ...

Spindle Epithelial Tumor with Thymus-Like Differentiation of the Thyroid Gland: A Case Report with Ultrasonography and CT Features, Cytological Findings and Histopathological Results

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2016
Spindle epithelial tumor with thymus-like differentiation (SETTLE) of the thyroid gland is a very rare tumor. It is believed to originate from ectopic thymus tissue within the thyroid gland or from branchial pouch remnants that differentiate along the ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

The effects of berry juice on cognitive decline in older adults : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements of Master of Arts in Psychology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This study examined the effects of blackcurrant and boysenberry juices on cognitive processes in older adults. Current research suggests that fruits such as these may be able to reverse some of the effects of ageing on cognition.
