Analysis of reactive power loadability and management of flexible alternating current transmission system devices in a distribution grid using whale optimization algorithm

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper suggests the optimal placement of different flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) devices using various metaheuristic methods associated with effective cost management in the distribution network. The outcomes show that the proposed WOA technique generates more upshot than any other evolutionary algorithms in cost ...

Investigation of the Stability of the Cameroon Northern Interconnected Grid (NIG): A Transient Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Today, the grid has become more complex, and this complexity has exposed it to several unforeseen events that can affect its stability in ways such as component outage, sudden variation in loads, connection of a new generator, and faults. One way to assess the grid’s ability to withstand substantial disturbance is the application of transient stability

Improving protection reliability of series‐compensated transmission lines by a fault detection method through an ML‐based model

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 18, Issue 21, Page 3452-3461, November 2024.
This article addresses the protection mal‐operation associated with the series compensation of transmission lines. The effect of fault resistance is also considered. Additionally, the proposed method is robust against harmonics and power swing conditions of the system.

Estimation of maximum non‐synchronous generation of renewable energy in the South Korea power system based on the minimum level of inertia

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 18, Issue 7, Page 1260-1268, 18 May 2024.
• The proposed method derives the minimum inertia based on the correlation between the available and required capacity of inertia and governor resources, considering the frequency standard. • The authors estimate Max NSG at the system level based on the minimum inertia. • The authors estimate Max NSG by reviewing actual data that reflect various system
