Identification of BCL2L11 as a Candidate Gene for Hereditary Predisposition to Non‐Medullary Thyroid Cancer Using Familial Whole‐Exome‐Sequencing

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Whole‐exome sequencing of five families with non‐medullary thyroid cancer revealed three candidate genes. Functional analyses confirmed BCL2L11 as a strong candidate gene for hereditary predisposition to non‐medullary thyroid cancer. ABSTRACT Familial non‐medullary thyroid cancer, defined as two or more affected first‐degree relatives, accounts for 3 ...

Ageing‐Dependent Thyroid Hormone Receptor α Reduction Activates IP3R1‐Meditated Ca2+ Transfer in MAM and Exacerbates Skeletal Muscle Atrophy in Mice

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
During skeletal muscle ageing, down‐regulation of TRα expression activates IP3R1 transcriptional expression, promotes MAM calcium transport, triggers mitochondrial calcium overload and apoptosis, leading to skeletal muscle atrophy. Restoring TRα expression can improve IP3R1‐mediated mitochondrial calcium overload and apoptosis in ageing skeletal muscle

An interpretable machine learning model for predicting metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) exhibit an elevated prevalence of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and are at greater risk of liver‐related adverse events. Existing non‐invasive tools show limited diagnostic performance in this population.
